Why would ADULT INBOUND links hurt my PR on google?

i used to have a 5 PR in google and sometimes even had a 6 for a month or two. now with the inbound links from different adult sites i have a 4.

i'm not a seo genius, but i know a little about it. anyone got any ideas.

its just an entertainment site.

Have you added more outbound links. I looked at your site, I noticed that not only does your main page have a pr4 but also your sub pages have pr4. You are sharing your main pages pr with the rest of the sites on your network.

Your overall network PR is growing, but it seems that its spreading out to your outbound links as well. This might be the reason for the recent pr drop. Think about how your network is organized.

yes, this site was optimized pretty good, i used to get first page search results until i started working at videopass. since then, i havent had time to work on it and its been owned by the other companies in the SAN DIEGO DJ keywords categories.

i guess i gotta get back on some people to put up links that were promised to me. hopefully that will help to balance out the adult links that are coming in now.

maybe i should put up one of the adult dj domain names i bought and mirror the site on it. would that affect me or get me owned from google? duplicate site on two domain names. if i jsut have all the adult sites link there, would it help airek.com get back to a 5 if the adult links weren't pointing to it? or is it too late and the cache in the archives etc will always be there and hurt me?

thanks for your input BTW.

Because if the inbound link has been penalized.. it will share that penalty with your site.

Thats why its always best to ensure you carefully screen who is linking to you and get those links removed ASAP if they are detrimental to your site in any way.

Lee

I simply don't believe that an inbound link can do any damage, even if it comes from a site that has been penalized. This would open the door for all kinds of manipulations.

The problem that I see is that none of your interior pages seem to have a link back to the main page. So your main page shares PR with the interior pages but there's nothing coming back. Set up a navigation on all your pages, with a link to your main page. This way it's also easier for site visitors to find their way around.

from what ive read since people dont have 100% control over who links to them, they dont get penalized for inbound links

This is true. Reduce the outbound links from the home page and ensure every page on the site has a link back to the home page. That should help.

Getting a few inbound links to your home page from high PR pages, of course, will also help.

yeah their breakin my balls.

that site used to be a 5 sometimes a 6 for anthing dealing with sound and lighting and san diego djs etc etc.

when the adult sites started linking, it dropped it, which causes me to get less leads from the net cuz now im on page 3 instead of the first one.

damnit

oh, the top banner on everypage is linked to the home page. i think i'll drop hard links right under it too

That would be my guess as well why all things equal to a few months ago, his PR has changed lower. All the inbound/outbound links to adult sites may change the relevancy of what his site is about to Google maybe.

Also, I have read over and over from reputable people that no way can inbound links hurt you or any penalty passed on to you either. I believe Google makes mention of staying out of "bad neighborhoods" but everyone would get their competition linked if this was the case.

Just speculating, but I wonder if all your inbound links have the exact same anchor copy, if that is something Google must filter for to equate them as non-organic inbound links to you and penalizes you acordingly. I am pretty sure if you trade links with the same sites linking to you that those are also filtered and no PR given out but not sure if these instances are considered spamming per se.

I don't want to explain this because it feels like wasting time but think about this:
"your backlinks lost PR as well".
