What he said, although you can save time by using guides in Photoshop, then create slices from guides in image ready.

got a page built in image ready, how do you export the slices...when I try it only does the full image, not where I have it sliced. When I go to the export page and click the preview the slices dissapear. How do you get them to hold?

Use the 'Save Optimized As...' command in ImageReady and 'Save for Web' in Photoshop.

I like HTML-Kit myself for html editing and page creation. I don't do much work with images, though.
