Einstein supposedly wrote this riddle and said 98% of the world could not solve it. Found on Patrick W. Gilmore jokes page.

There are 5 houses painted in different colors in a row on a street. In each house lives a person with a different nationality. The 5 owners each drink a certain type of beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar, and keep a certain pet. No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar, nor drink the same beverage.

WHO OWNS THE BIRD? (which nationality)

Hints:

* The Brit lives in the red house.
* The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
* The Dane drinks tea.
* The green house is on the left of the white house.
* The green house's owner drinks coffee.
* The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
* The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
* The person living in the center house drinks milk.
* The Norwegian lives in the leftmost house.
* The person who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
* The person who keeps the horse lives next to the person who smokes Dunhill.
* The owner who smokes Bluemasters drinks beer.
* The German smokes Prince.
* The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
* The person who smokes Blends has a neighbor who drinks water.

took me about 8-10 minutes to get this one

Here is one that has a lot less words, but us still hard to figure out.

Take the number 12 and divide it in half. Each half will be = and each half will be 7. How do you do it.

The time limit is supposed to be 2 minutes.

Me and some friends did this a couple of years ago and we all managed to get it right. We're not particularly bright either. Just draw a table and gradually, a process of elimination and logic will lead to the answer.

I worked that out years ago. Honestly, there is absolutely no way 98% of the world could not solve that question. Every one of my brothers managed to solve pretty quickly also, and although none are stupid, I doubt we are all among the smartest 2% of the world.
