n. pl. ge·la·ti (-t)
An Italian ice cream or ice.
...It's amazing how many Americans have no idea what it is, quite sad really. When I was in Italy with a few Americans a couple of months ago they were going crazy because it was the first time they'd tasted it.
I definitely think gelato is awesome, but I have yet to find gelato in the states as good as the street vendors in Italy. Until then I would have to say ice cream. -g
Italian ice cream is great. I had the distinct pleasure of enjoying some pineapple gelato walking to the Trevi Fountain during my vacation last year in Rome. Great city. Great ice cream.
My parents owned an ice cream parlor for 15 years. We used to make homemade Gelato. The flavoring was imported from Italy (very expensive) but other ice cream doesn't come close to it. It's much more rich and flavorful. I haven't had any in years but all I know is that once you've had it, other ice cream tastes like pure crap. We also used to make assorted italian ice flavors.
How did I go from ice cream to porn? haha Life is funny.
