Barcodes?
Does anyone know if there is a 'database' of all barcodes in use in the US at the present time?
Like if you walked into Walmart for example, when they scan an item at the checkout.. where do they get the info for the barcode or is it entered manually? Also, how do you go about ensuring a barcode isnt being used on existing product item? Anyone know? We have some stuff that we are going to be pushing into national retail chains early next year and we want to mae sure the stores can actually scan the products without any problems LOL Regards, Lee |

I know in the UK you have to register with http://www.e-centre.org.uk. Once registered you enter your product details and you get your own barcode number which goes into the database. Give the numbers to your printer and they will generate the correct barcode for you.
