What do you want to be known for?

I want to be known as a great father, because I am a great father. I want my son to know he was the most important person in my life. I want him to be able to say, "My dad was at every one of my ball games". And to know that I will never judge him, ever, no matter what he does with himself.

My pride and joy.

What do you want to be known for?

A great father for sure.

Someone who created lots of ideas for people to be entertained by and enjoy.

Someone who built successful businesses.

Someone who helped others to grow and prosper.

Someone who created awareness for the welfare of children and animals.

I could go on, but I think that covers the most important ones.

Not far from where I live
They glance in morning breeze
As dividing tiny rays
A morning try to seize

Greet me my proud little soldiers
Of brown, purple and grey
Carry us on your shoulders
Carry us far away

If you begin to fall
Please have some more
You could stay at my place if you want
I'll sleep on the floor

In shades of purple cloth
They guide us to the light
With irresistable pride
To the feast they us invite

going to your kids games... your child will never forget that, won't seem important until they are older... then they will realize how much you cared.

Yep. I remember my parents getting up early to go to my soccer games each Saturday morning. We'd stop at McDonalds on the way and get a sausage McMuffin with Egg.

My dad has SO many pictures of my brother and me playing soccer. My brother was good at it. In EVERY photo of me I have my foot up in the air as if to kick the ball, but the ball is ALWAYS behind my foot. Missed again!

Dad always tried to get shots where I actually connected with the ball, but I wasn't all that coordinated.

when i have children, i want to be as good a father as the one I had, show my children how life works and how to make the best of it, work hard, take responsibility and don?t make excuses, how 95% of the bs in world does not matter and how to deal with the people that cause that drama, what I know about business, women, politics, how to deal with people, art/music, how to fish, etc.

good thread donny

Yep. That's the important thing: your kids know that you think they're the best.

Just two days ago my son was playing video games with a friend of ours. She asked him what character he wanted to be and he told her, "Well, my daddy says I'm a prince."

I am so proud of my son. Here's an entry from the journal I keep online, which contains thoughts to him so that he knows how I feel should something ever happen to me:

You do a lot of things that impress me. You aren't even 5 years old yet (4 more days!). Today you impressed me again.

You were here at my house and the two of us were watching TV. Belinda came into the living room and asked me a question that irked me a little. I snapped at her and she walked down the hall. You looked over at me, leaned into me and said "I'm going to go give her a hug, dad". Then you got up, called for her, told her that you had a secret to tell her, and gave her a big hug. You felt like she needed one after I snapped at her. I was humbled and impressed by that.

He's not even 5 yet, and already thinks about the feelings of others. SUCH a sweetheart.
