I got a check today from a sponsor and there's a tiny tear in the top right corner where there's no writing or numbers and I'm just wondering if a bank would still accept it or if it's invalid now. Does anyone know?

I have cashed tons of checks with tears (I seem to be retarded when opening an envelope) and have never had a problem. Make a copy of it just in case it gets "lost" in the automation crap, but I really doubt that will happen.Comment

you will be fine. I accidentally ripped off the top left corner of a check once (with the name, address, phone, etc), taped it back on, and still had no problem cashing it

I accidently managed to tear a cheque in half while opening the envelope (Don't ask, i still haven't figured out how). The bank still accepted it.26 + 6 = 1Comment
