It is used very often, an other example is Mentos. It works. You took the time out to start a thread about it. Even bad promo is good promo. I may have taken the required marketing credits in school, but that was learned by reading; forget where. In association with internet sales such information including color and copy shouldn't be taken lightly. In the long run they make a big difference. Red+Yellow=food, hunger.
