    My site was hacked/password stolen...

And the "hacker" decides to fix some of my broken links, work on my meta tags, and THEN sends me an email explaining how he exploited my system.

What in the name of all that's holy!?!?!

I have never heard of that before! A non-malicious hacker going in and actually fixing up a site and then sharing with they sysadmin how he/she exploited it. This is starting off to be a very odd week.

I just found it weird enough to share on GFY. Thanks for the help, DnBurner.

I had the same thing about three years ago, about a month later I had a virus on every page on the server, he left one file on the server. Every domain, site and page was fucked. Have a very good look at your server dude.

Yeah, most likely he´s doing job interviews.

But still, have that sysadmin look thoroughly through the server for malicious stuff, plain little backdoors and scripts thats been altered.

This is the TRUE meaning of "Hacker", people get confused when it comes to the name. A Cracker are the bad ones, a true hacker means well and exploits your system so educate you and help you protect from crackers and script kidies and chit like that.

Jace, when you get a chance ICQ me.

I just got off the phone with the guy and he says that he does it as kind of a hobby. I told him that I was freaking out and he said to rest assure, he did not plant anything in my server. Hell, the guy gave me his phone number and told me to call if I had any questions. If it were a malicious attack then he would not have given me his correct contact info.

He gets off on hacking into systems and then fixes what he can and then lets the sysadmin know exactly what he did. He told me that he has had numerous job offers from doing this but he is comfortable with where he is at.

That's pretty f'ing cool if you ask me!
