Which content company did a blow out sale and stayed in the business?

I don'e mean people who for a few weeks did a special offer. I'm talking about the companies that did a total blowout selling off everything for a rock bottom price, sometimes on the pretence of re grouping or trying to raise money for re-equipping.

Seems to me most of them have gone.

Sometimes it seems it's to get out of the content business and raise funds to start a new project(s).

I've seen some people do the blowout and then launch successful programs.

Focus Adult is still in business, they left the licensed content biz to shoot custom stuff and I think do some sites in partnership with programs. Cloud 9 Content who had the first and most successful blowout sale has a couple of paysites in partnership with a program and has a DVD distribution deal for his video content.

I don't think that any blow out can bring some special amounts - its some good money I believe but nothing special to biuld the new biz on

Thanks guys. Mutt I'm not so sure that Focus are shooting custom, more like Mike who use to shoot for them is.

What amazes me is how much cash do you need to raise to start new projects? A camera and lights top end is $10,000. how bad do you need to be to not be able to raise $10 with a few specials and then all the money in the world and the best equipment still is not going to turn a guy pointing a camera at a naked girl into a pornographer.

general rule:

"blowout content" = content that doesn't convert very well

there's a reason it's cheap.

I know that the owner of our company bought out 6-7 content sites last year. Maybe they were some of them.

That doesnt seem right, a nice camera, lens, strobe lights, some props maybe a backdrop or two, that would be closer to 25k no?

BTW, that is a QUESTION I know you know a lot more then me.
