2. Russia is in Europe and Asia. And yes some russians are asian and some european. 3. Australia is a country and a continent. 4. Eurasia is the land mass comprising the continents of Europe and Asia(out of the dictionary) Not officially a continent. |

OCEANIA, the smallest continent, is one of the most diverse and fascinating areas on the planet.
A large percentage of geography experts now consider the long-established continent of Australia to be more accurately defined as Australia/Oceania. Collectively it then combines all of Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, as well as the thousands of coral atolls and volcanic islands of the South Pacific Ocean, including the Melanesia and Polynesia groups. Oceania also includes Micronesia, a widely scattered group of islands that run along the northern and southern edges of the Equator. http://www.worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/au.htm :2 cents: |

The Oceania thing is debateable
Most Australians and NZers refer to it as Australasia Some people in that region will tell you Oceania is made up of just the S Pacific Islands..... Fiji, The Cooks, NZ etc. but not Australia But they concider that it is part of a much bigger continent that broke up billions of years ago I was taught Austalasia here in the UK as well |

this is the factbook on Australia http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/...k/geos/as.html look at Geography then location , it says Australia is situated in Oceania a CONTINENT between the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific Ocean but hey thats just the CIA they are probably wrong on this one too :2 cents: |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continent
There is no single standard for what defines a continent, and therefore various cultures and sciences have different lists of what are considered to be continents. In general, a continent must be large in area, consist of non-submerged land, and have geologically significant borders. While some consider that there are as few as four or five continents, the most commonly used counts are six or seven. Two of the largest disagreements in listing continents are whether Europe and Asia should be considered separately or combined into Eurasia, and whether North America and South America should be considered separately or combined into America. A few geographers have also suggested grouping Europe, Asia, and Africa into a continent of Eurafrasia (see Africa-Eurasia). The seven continent model is taught in parts of Western Europe and North America, while the six continent (combined Eurasia) model is also taught in North America and is the primary continent model used in scientific contexts. The six continent (combined Americas) model is commonly taught in Europe and South America. The five continent model is normally taught in the United Kingdom and Mexico. The continents of the "five continents" model (as shown by the five Olympic Games flag rings) are speculated to be the five permamently populated continents (viewing Antarctica as only temporarily populated, and all the Americas as one). Continents are sometimes conceptually combined to make "supercontinents" or subdivided to make "subcontinents". These terms are even less precisely defined than "continent" itself. Islands are usually considered to "belong" to the continent they are closest to, and hence the British Isles are considered to be a part of Europe. Sometimes Australasia or "Oceania" is used to refer collectively to Australia and the Pacific islands. Both terms, however, have fairly precise meanings. When "the Continent" is referred to without clarification by a speaker of British English, it is usually presumed to mean Continental Europe, i.e. Europe, explicitly excluding Great Britain and Ireland. Similarly, when the term "the Subcontinent" is used, it is presumed to refer to India. |

Orientals = Asian Indians = Asians Arabs = Asian ------------------- The USA is probably the only place where orientals are called asians, and the rest just after their individual countries... In Europe we call indians & Arabs asians, and then people from SE-Asia Oriental. So to answer one of your previous questions, if you would say to me "look at that asian guy" I would be looking for an indian/arab guy, deffinately not an oriental guy |
