...multiple "image" folders?

Say you have 10 templates, and 3 or 4 image sets per template. Do you set up one central image folder for example, the page images then another folder for the image files pulled by each template? Or do you assign a different folder and host multiple images duplicates?

Your thoughs?

I am asking to try to find a balance between image file size and speed.

I do it by site I'm promoting. I have one imgae folder for that site, all template files go in it, then each content set goes in it's own folder inside the image folder.
