Face it, GEO::IP is an antiquainted marketing tool, those of you who are to dumb to have realized its potential 4 or 5 years ago have missed the boat for making any serious money from this technology.

As to the 'whatever company you are working for' comment, again, please tell me ANY company i have worked for other than my own in the last 6 years i have been in the adult industry.

Regards,

Lee

It never ceases to amaze me how un-educated the adult industry is when it comes to new technology, they wait until what currently works no longer does, then embraces 5 year old technology that anyone worth a grain of salt has already been using productively.

Lee,

Your arrogance amazes me!

LOL

Are you saying AFF isn't worth a grain of salt?

You can't be serious?

Regardless of how long the technology to sort by IP has been around - it is no matter. I personally believe the ability to generate these ads in this manner is worth a lot more today than you seem to be willing to give it credit for.

I'm sure AFF could argue that point to the amount of thousands of profiles and sales per day MORE than they were generating just 1 short month ago!

That's only one small example.

BTW - You seem to forget you live in this tiny little "gay adult" world. Adult is a smidgen of the $$$ to be made from Geo-marketing. Gay adult an even smaller smidgen. :winkwink:

I'm presently working on implementing a huge deployment of Geo-Marketing for a leading online lending exchange that connects consumers with lenders and realtors. This company has facilitated nearly $90 billion in closed loan and real estate transactions since 1998.

Please get down off of your high horse, ok?

:winkwink:

Fletch XXX 12-11-2004 02:38 AM

Yah. I think the issue here is not how long the technology has been around, or whether those who are expounding its benefits are behind the times. The most important question is are they being used effectively and to advantage today? The answer -- abso-fucking-lutely.

Again, where did i say we had implemented this old technology? People seem to think all we do is gay stuff... this really int the case just as it isnt the case that it is purely adult orientated businesses we run.

You have used ICQ right? Chances are, you saw some of our geo targeted ads on there without even knowing it was us.

You might not have mentioned AFF by name, but to me, it seems you're putting them in the category of "anyone worth a grain of salt has already been using productively." there by saying they are NOT worth a grain of salt :winkwink:

Simply stated, I disagree

LOL

EDIT: you're also saying that they're un-educated :winkwink:

I am seriously looking into getting MaxMind's GeoIP DMA Code Database.

DMA stands for Designated Market Area.

I have to completely disagree. The databases from 4 or 5 years ago were significantly less accurate than today and you still see people here complaining. I've personally never seen anything like what j$tyle$ is selling and it caught my attention. As someone who's been working on the internet for 13 years (When I added internet email to my existing wildcat BBS with fidonet support) I like this shit.

We should talk about how you can use it in some additional beta testing
