Seems to me the freesites have the power. Do freesites ever ask paysites if they can have permission to sign up? Hell no. Paysites spend money at conventions on advertising and booths and parties because of freesites... they want our traffic... because traffic=money. Who has the power now? All the glitz and glamour is a lot of smoke screen for who is really in control... Do you think Lensman had the adult.com party because he needed more friends? I doubt it. Did he have that party to show us how cool he was -- how much money he had? I don't think so. ------------------ 100 signups gets you a free room and show pass for Internext at the Venetian. Whatever fly. The paper and the paperboy equation summed it up best.

Anyway these credit processor companies will be out of biz in a few years I can guarantee it...
The future is micropayments. That's a fact. Already porn paysites are jumping onto the Paypal bandwagon -- they only change a 3% fee, not 15%... It's only a matter of time before the whole net is working on just micropayments with electronic money or equiv. -- and freesites. People only sign up for paysites out of ignorance. "The truth will out..." If you know your history of technology and computing you would know that information wants to be free and it always has been. Open hardware specifications, open source software, and now the free spirit of the internet -- tax free, free flowing and free linking... And there's nothing that can stop it. There will be a paradigm shift. And Boneprone shut the fuck up about spraypaint and your movies -- I'm trying to be serious. haha ------------------ 100 signups gets you a free room and show pass for Internext at the Venetian. Anyway make your jokes now but I'm usually right about the future of the computer industry.
As for your paperboy analogy -- sorry your logic backfires. Newspapers are and will lose even more money to electronicly provided news -- internet, wireless devices, etc... The "news" is information and just like the graph of a curve will find the highest distribution to the masses with the least distribution expense. The economic role of the middle man will be reduced -- and the news providers (ie: the content providers) -- will play a more significant role... Anyway the day of the paperboy will soon be over... and so will your analogy... along with the paper that it *wasn't* written on. Why do you think they call me Yoda? ------------------ 100 signups gets you a free room and show pass for Internext at the Venetian. Boneprone-4-Life |

Ahh.. Star Trek Deep Space Nine is on.. Ill try this one.

Micropayments may very well be the future but they won't be done through Paypal. Also, I'm willing to bet that there are a lot more paysites that end up never recovering their initial investment than there are paysites that actually turn a profit. I'm also not sure I believe that when all is said and done, someone like Lensman brings home more money than someone like the Hun despite the fact that Adult.com grosses SUBSTANTIALLY more than the top TGP.
|
Paysites are a pain in the ass, I wouldn't even think about it unless you have at least $1000000+ to spend and are willing to do this biz untill the end of days.

All the jokes about Paypal... haha laugh but this "concept" is the future... look how well Paypal is doing with w/ ebay... the existance of credit cards is only a natural progression from paper money to purely electronic money. Convenience! Money wants to move freely. Your paysites wouldn't make much money if you had to wait for a check in the mail or if you had to phone in orders... With electronic money you no longer have people worried about what charge is going to appear on their credit card... or what their wife will say when they see the billing statement... and you don't have to worry about your cc# being stolen. The whole system will move quicker and more smoothly. You'll have freesites making micropayment profits off of each surfer and each other... and micropayment referral $... referral programs within referral programs... only on a micropayment level... click programs where the money moves back and forth instantly... freely accessed, linked sites will become the delivery system... a web cam provider will no longer lease its streams to x, y, and z paysites... they will just need one page or site with their cam content -- and you get micropayment money just for sending traffic to it -- and the girls on cam will get micropayment money to do shit for the surfers. It will all be quick, cheap, and very profitable. Packaging without personality will lose importance (and money). Anyway I could go on and tell you how it will work but someday you'll scratch your crabs and say -- yeah The FLY predicted all that. |

she's a beautiful person inside too. she just doesn't have any self-esteem. fucking mother-in-law.

Yeah some Mom are mean like that... My ex-girlfriend's mom told her that she was too ugly to have short hair...
|
hmmm... what if paysites drop webmasters programs and start building free sites to generate their own freesite traffic??? , maybe they already do it?
Anyway it would be impossible for all paysites to agree and do this, some will still want to have more "marketing tools" than their competitors. [This message has been edited by Roberto (edited 10-06-2001).] [This message has been edited by Roberto (edited 10-06-2001).] |
I got out of the snack business because of the overhead and start up costs. So I can see the benefit to not getting into a pay site right away. I'm still mixed about the long term though. I too vote diversification.
