Any idea how to reboot a windows server when remote desktop wont connect?

2 of my servers just keep kicking me out. Theyre up but remote desktop wont refuses to connect. I need to reboot them but im tired of mailing support all the time. I guess there is no other solution?

You could just hit the reset switch.

Seriously though if it is Win2k Advanced you should have terminal services installed and you can connect via that and log in with an admin account and reboot that way. If not then I would talk to the support guys and find out why UDP is not working. Just my

Answers are already giving....Remote reboot switch, or Terminal services...

Especially the first one is perfect, because that one also works when the server is almost dead

You can also install NETOP remote control... That also works when Windows won't boot...So it also connects to the box in dos mode etc

ironically it would suck if the apc failed to connect
then youd need to remote reboot the remote reboot switch

Ya i got it, the thing is i dont have that enabled. Its 20 bucks a month extra at managed.com and normally i have no need for it, if i need a reboot i just do that through remote desktop.

Then you might want to try the DOS thing mentioned above.

I'm going to try the switch method on my home computer. I found a home-use one for $250.

The main question you should be asking yourself is why are you using Windows servers in the first place.

A friend of mine is a tech guy. He fix TV's radio's etc for a living.

Anyway, he bought a cheap cell phone with vibration function, and a sim card for a number.

He opened the phone, took all kinda stuff out of it, and connected it to the ON/OFF thing on his motherboard of the PC. Then he soldered it, and fixed some other stuff. CLosed the PC, and with the eye you don't see a thing.

Now when he calls his "pc" it turns ON, when he calls again, it switch OFF

Really funny, and sometimes useful

Andre

Technische spec.: Voedingsspanning 9 - 15 V ? Stroomverbruik 500 mA ? Max. schakelstroomsterkte 6 A ? Max. schakelspanning 250 V~ ? Ingangsspanning (digitale ingangen) logisch 1: 12 V; logisch 0: 0 V; ingangsstroomsterkte 10 mA ? GSM dualband EGSM 900/1800 MHz, compatibel met ETSI GSM fase 2+ Standard ? Temperatuurbereik -30 tot +75 °C ? Afm. (lxbxh) 100 x 53 x 25 mm ? Gewicht 100 g.
Module, printplaat kant-en-klaar opgebouwd en getest.

Per telefoon schakelen
Melding aan max. 5 gebruikers
Besturing van max. 100 apparaten

(sorry for the dutch guys not about hot girls move along )

Most hosts give that to you for free, well mine does anyway. But if yous charges i would suggest you pay the fee to save you in the future. But even if your host doesnt use them cant they reboot the server for you? I would think that the time it took you to post this thread you could have had them reboot the server for you?
