I said rolling stoneS... ever heard of them?

The analogy was that both bands were great, rolling stones and the doors. Both had creativity, their own style, and made a killing. Only one of them lived long enough to enjoy their fame and wealth. The other died because they over dosed on drugs. Do you think the ones who over dosed on drugs, could they go back and do it again, would educate themselves with a bit more knowledge and not done so many drugs? mcjagger on the other hand, had a wealth of knowledge and studied economics. To this day he still has a major stake in everything that the rolling stones do. He used his knowledge to capitilize on his creativity. get it yet?:winkwink:

that analogy is flawed

jim morrison was severly naturally depressed and didn't want the fame he received...while he did horde the attention, he still did not want it

that is like comparing poison to nirvana...poinson wanted fame and attention, while kurt cobain hated it

The Roling Stones came and performed at my middle school for an assembly and no one knew who they were. We wanted MC Hammer, or V Ice.

Based on that gig, one would assume they were doing shitty.

depression is a clinically diagnosed illness. Knowledge about depression and what triggers it is one of the only known cures. So even though with the information you brouth to light the analogy does seem a bit off (mind you I did dig deep for it) in another way it further proves my point.

You're so right,
Also, musicians who die in their prime go down with 'legend' status. (pac, cobain, hendrix, etc...)

This is because they never get a chance to get washed up, like all the greats eventually do. (van halen, who? mettalicops, wtf? Axel rose, huh?)

That's fine and dandy and all, but concerts account to less than 9% of music industry revenue. This has and always been the case.

Wanna know who's making money, right now? Usher.
EDITED: I mean Clive Davis.

They were the best selling band in 2003, beating cold play, etc. Not to mention this is 30-35 years AFTER they're prime. So hence they have been making all this money all along. The fucking point is that because he has the right knowledge (business sense, etc) he can use it to make the most of his creativety. Meaning, creativity is important but knowledge is still important too. Meaning, before posting dumb ass threads like this do a little research.

Industry yes. But it is almost 100% of the income most artists receive.

Ok, now your just blowing steam.
This is the industry I pay attention to. I can remember most all of Billboards 2003's stats and nowhere do I remember anything about the Rolling Stones.

Also, what category is "best selling band"? I've never heard of such a thing. sounds like your a big RS fan?

I specifically remember The Beatles #1's and 50 Cent hitting record highs of 2003.. WTF, man?

Btw, 2003 in widespead known as the "Queer year in music", it sucked that hard.

Until they have to pay back the Concert Tour Advance. :(

Suprisingly alot of artists dodge paying back these advances all the way to their death, as law states (and with the help of ASCAP) that record companies cannot recoup said advances from publishing royalties.

My question is how does a site like www.hush-hush.com stay open? If you look at some of the pictures they have of girls on there web-cams you would swear some of them are 12 and 13 years old. And im not talking about a few pictures im talking about dozens of girls and thousands of pictures.

Im positive i have seen pictures from that site and there is no way in hell the girls are over 16. And if i remember correctly i seen a post about this same subject a long time ago where someone said they where not ingaged in sex so it makes it legeal to display the images and it was public domain content of something of that nature. I didnt understand it then and i dont now.

And hush-hush is not the only site like this, there are tons of them, some of them have direct links to yahoo groups that have pictures of girls on web-cams and once again you would swear they are underage.

Maybe this topic has been covered before, but if you see pictures of girls who you think are underage and on a paysite and they have no 2557's how do they stay open.

That doesn't make any sense, income is income, what you choose to spend it on is irrelavent. Be it paying back advances, buying a house, or putting it in the bank, income is income.

There's a great article in XBiz World about copyright infringement that you should read... basically you could be looking at up to $150,000 in Statutory Damages per work infringed, regardless if you made any money with it or not...

Man, that's sick. I saw on girl... can't be over 16.

I also saw some amateur shower cam and voyuer pics, obviously not owned by anyone but the creep who snapped the shots.

I think are questions might be a little bit over GFY's expertise. Folks here, mostly deal with TGP's and mainstream porn.

For the record, I am not a rolling stones fan. I dont hate their music, but I dont own any of their CD's or anything like that. I listen to hip hop, usher is one of my favorite R&B singers, but thats not the point of my analogy, it's not the point of this thread, and its just you changing the subject once again.

"Best selling band" means they made the most income. The band made more money then any other band in all of 2003. Yes, they made it from the procedes of their conerts, but I said that just to show you that even if it is only 9% or whatever you said, it still made them more money then a platinum album made any other band in 2003. I am only talking about bands, not hip hop artists or R&B singers. But the point is, that they are fucking rich because mcjagger used his knowledge to capitilize on his creativety. Thats the end of the storey. Don't nag me about the little things, see the big picture for once... ya might learn something!

From what I can tell, they aren't hosted in the US, they don't use a US processor and they dont live in the US, therefor US laws dont apply to them. They are governed by the local laws only. I dont know their local laws, so I can't comment on what the legal age of consent is. However they claim all models are over 16, so I would assume the local law for them is 16 years of age.

However, if you do come accross any sites that questionable, the best thing to do is to report them to http://www.asacp.org/ and they are a non-profit organization who looks into all sites submitted to them and if necessary, they report the to the local authorities.
