ClassicGaming.com If you're a old-school gamer, READ THIS !!
WOW guys, I never realy dug into arcade emulators before until tonight, he he he. I went to http://www.classicgaming.com and downloaded the "Mame" emulator and a shitload of games that I used to play years ago in the arcade.
Talk about taking a stroll down memory lane, he he he. Some games didn't load like "Cruisin", "Rastan", "Bump N Jump" that's a bummer, but I'll have to look elsewhere for them. Look at that list of games that they got there, just about every old video game that you can think of is there. Just download the "Mame" emulator, then download the zipped up games to the ROM directory in the Mame file and run the program and you're all set, very easy to use. I've been playing Demolition Derby, Pyros, Pengo, Donkey Kong, Tag Team Wrestling, and a few others, what a blast. I can't get any work done though, ha ha ha. I curse you for posting that link... I am addicted and I can't even figure out how to play most of them. There is no damn instructions so I am just hitting keys trying to figure out what fires or steers or moves. I have downloaded Tron and Demolition Derby but I'm going back for more

How old is "old school"??
I had a game on my old HD from the mid 80's called "Kommander Keen" heh heh, I loved that game. It was cool, you had to take your little space guy into a bunch of pyramids and caves and tunnels and rescue people using a laser gun and a pogo stick for weapons ![]() NOW THAT'S OLD! I'm also a big Duke Nukem fan. I hear that's pretty old too. heh heh. You guys need to try playing Fallout, now THAT is a cool fucking game. <font face="Verdana">___________ CD ![]() * <a href="http://www5.smutserver.com/babes/nudes/erotica/" TARGET="_blank"><font color="#FFDDFF"> Nightmares & Other Sex Fantasies</font></a> Original quality erotica & dark fantasy stories * <a href="http://members.home.net/cyberdogs/Anti-Censorship%20Site/" TARGET="_blank"><font color="#FFFFDD"> Sites Against Censorship</font></a> Support something worthwhile, support your future! * <a href="http://www.erasercash.com/wm.html?ID=1380291" TARGET="_blank"><font face="Verdana" color="#FFCCCC">ERASERCASH!</font></a> Earn $35 per sale + webmaster referrals 4 LEVELS DEEP</font> |

I guess I was thinking computer games.
Komander Keen is like the stoneage of computer games, unless you count pong as a game ![]() I used to like those colecovision games, there was one with the bugs in the vegetable garden, what was it called? I forget. WAIT! I just remembered, it was called "ladybug", good game, as hard on the wrist as Pacman ever was. And that Intellevision thing, the game Seabattle was awesome. Also Dungeons & Dragons, I miss those stupid games. Damn, I'm gonna start crying. Gary! What about ikari warriors? That was the game on spectrum in 1985-86. I'm gonna download some of the new emulators.

I used to play games on the ZX Spectrum - they were real stone agers too! It had the first Discworld game, which was a lot of fun, and the Never Ending Story, and Zynaps and Renegade and Arkanoid and Outrun and Enduro racer.. anyone play any of these?

Ha ha ha, all that I did last night was play games until what time in the morning, I downloaded tons of games. Those games really bring back some old memories.
The Truth, how do you like Destruction Derby, I used to get some friends together and play that all the time. At our arcade, there was a 4 player table top of that, those were the days, ha ha ha. Tron is also classic, but kinda hard to figure out the controls. EVERYONE, IF YOU HIT THE TAB KEY DURING THE GAME, YOU CAN GET INTO THE "GAME OPTIONS" AND IT'LL TELL YOU ALL OF THE COMMANDS, YOU CAN EDIT THEM TO. I'M SURE THAT MOST OF YOU FOUND THAT OUT BECAUSE YOU NEED TO PUT QUARTERS INTO THE GAMES AND START THEM. JUST SO YA KNOW YOU CAN EDIT STUFF. I'll have to pick up that Ladybug game today. That name rung a bell, but I kept thinking "ladybug ?", ha ha ha. Now that CD explained it, it rings a bell. |

I guess we all have to brag about the oldest games we played now ehehe...
Commander Keen ehehe... Yeah that was about one of the first smooth scrolling sideplay games fror the PC -- if I remember right it was using some kind of EGA page flipping technique to get it so fast... That was really ground breaking at the time... It was one of the hotter downloads off my BBS (allong with the Sports Illustrated EGA GIF files haha) That's about the time Duke Nukem came out from ID? I sure would like to have a copy of an original Spacewar for DOS... It was in 640x200x2 CGA I think or something like that -- I forgot the video mode... That was a really fun game. I'm reading this book "Hackers" and there are several chapters about the first MIT hackers and how some of the first-ever computer games were conceived and written -- the invention of Spacewar I think was a really significant moment in history ;) I remember I used to have a blast with my brother and/or friends playing this game called DSS... You had to get a piece of cardboard to split the screen in half so you couldn't see what your opponent was doing... One player got the numeric keypad and the other player got the other side of the keyboard... You had control over your ship's power, shields, weapons, etc... it was one of those games were you enter in coordinates for weapons and shit -- I guess I had a head start on geometry and trig when I got to school because of my photon torpedo training ;) Another awesome game was for the Galacticom (sp?) BBS -- Flash Attack... Damn! What a rush -- playing against up to 7 other people I think... all in real-time -- that was a real fast action/strategy game even in the 2400-9600 days... After you got over the intial thrill of the came you could get into building custom macros! Macros gave you ninja-like reflexes... If you had a cool macro program you could build very elaborate macro functions that would call other macros so you could create all sorts of complex game strategies... There were so many weapons and defenses and ways to hack the game -- it never got boring... Some people took that game to the extreme... I bet there are still people playing it somewhere -- I should do a search on it... I'd say Flash Attack was the most thrilling game that I've ever played (besides sex) haha.. |

Guys, here's something that'll help you remember new old games to download. What I've been doing is keeping ClassicGames.com in one browser, then I've been going to this site - http://www.nw.com.au/~rodrigue/arcad...te/emulate.htm
If you click on the on the letters of the alphabet to browse through them, you can see little pictures of the games, which will really help you out in downloading new games. Heck, I went through half that list and just from seeing those pics, I ended up downloading 16 games that I forgot all about, he he he. They don't have too many games pictured there, but there's enough to help you to recall. If anyone else knows of a site like that, please let me know because like I say, there's MANY games that I've played in my lifetime, but I forgot all about. After seeing some pics, it sure makes you remember in a hurry, ha ha ha. [This message has been edited by Slick (edited 09-29-2001).] |

Whoever started this thread is DEAD MEAT!!!
Just when i thought I had done really well in giving up my online casino addiction and my oh - so - short lived 'poppit' craze you had to go and post up these games. I am an atari girl from way back. My parent's (both illiterate) wanted me to get a good education so they saved all their money and bought me an atari. They kept buyng me eachn new machine as they were released. The only problem wast that I hardly got to do anything on them coz my Dad was always gaming!!! But I did learn a few helpfull skills, as most of my time was spent using graphics programs and animators. Oh I remember so well the endless hours of arkanoid, bubble bobble and bomb jack. I still have my 520, 1040ste and 1040stfm although I have lost a lot of the games over the years. If anyone has atari games let me know I am looking for them all the time!! I am especially looking for a game called 'dragon's breath' a role playing type game about witches and alchemists. I need the book that goes with it - it's impossible to play without the book Maybe it's just me - but I just don't go for the new games - I have had a nintentdo, super nintendo, sega , sega master system , sega MS II, playstation and n64 but I have never found better than atari. My playstation has been used maybe twice... I won't even bother with a PS2 especially now that I've got OLD SCHOOL GAMES!!!!.... |

I stopped playing games when they got too big and too graphical. I was addicted to those old sierra adventures, Larry, space quest, kings quest and the best of all hero's quest part 1 (aka quest for glory). I LOVE that game!
Ofcourse monkey island part 1 rules too. Guybrush Treepwood bahahah I still have my old c64 with 100's of games, real cool stuff. Nowadays i only play unreal and sometimes counterstrike. |
