While I admire your desire to help others by getting licensed, I think that with only 3 months drug/chemical free, you're hardly sober enuff to counsel anyone in a professional capacity. Believe me, I speak from experience. Worked in rehab for a year at a year sober. I quit because I felt like such a hippocrite telling folks how to stay clean and sober when I hardly knew what the hell I was doing or how I was doing it. As much as I love thinking i'm a God, I didnt feel good PLAYING god with others lives. My 6 months working in an inner city detox unit cured me of my god complex. lol

Thank you baby, for your advice, and let me point out the fact that I never stated that I would take a job practicing as an LCDC anytime soon, I'm concentrating on nursing, and still have 1.5 years to complete my RN. Ummm I was clean and sober for 10 1/2 years. Went to Holland last summer and "indulged" :Graucho Havent had anything since, so I guess if I wanted to go back to meetings and do all that stuff i'd have a little over a year sober this time.

I've been through three treatment centers, i could teach the classes by the time I got to the second one. We know what we have to do. I commend you for staying clean after your slip. And I've learned that the people that insist that the meetings are the most important part of sobriety are weak and jaded. There are more drugs, adultry, secret alcoholism, etc. inside those meetings than on the street with friends in most places around here. It's just a matter of not doing it. It's simple. So for all the others here that think they know me and believed my initial post, they know nothing about what we've been through. And anyone that drinks alcohol to feel good, is just like us. They don't understand that. You dig? Muah!
