Great idea Taboo...I'm confident you will do well.
I have masturbationblog.com (it actually started on a subdomain and it took off so quickly I ended up getting the .com ;)
Blogs are an excellent investment...both money wise, and time wise.
Best of luck with it!
(geez, now I wanna go to the domain mines....yikes!)

How long have you been running it? Are you already part of another blog network or exclusively partnered w/ anyone?

She's solely mine. I think I started it in June....not even 100 entries yet, but it's gaining in popularity quicker than I expected. I get a fair amount of feedback from my readers.Originally posted by Taboo

My only issue with blogs is that you actually have to update them....call me lazy....I guess I'm just so used to building sites and then moving on to something else....blogging has been a change....I don't post everyday....sometimes I'll go 5 or 6 days between entries, and other times I'll have 3 and 4 entries in one day....just depends on what content I have for that day.
It IS work. You have to be VERY personable with your audience...show them you are a REAL person with REAL thoughts, ideas etc....especially with sex blogs....amateur girls are perfect for them.
I think I've managed a happy medium between personability AND furthering my financial aims. (of course the latter was/is the entire reason I started it...lol) I push all sorts of things on my blog...from sex toys to paysites to phone sex....and my audience buys.....why? Because most of the time I 'claim' that I am ALSO a customer (ya know, remember the bald guy in those commercials? "I'm not just the president, I'm also a client.") I have purchased several of the sex toys that I promote...I take pics of them, really SHOW them that I'm for real. I'm even considering starting up my own 'masturbation phone sex' line where my readers can actually talk to me and hear me 'masturbate' over the phone.
Of course, this will take my precious time...and, time is money. BUT, I have found that the time I put into my blog pays off 10 fold....so, I'm not going to quit anytime soon. ;)
As for partnering....can you email me ladyx at ladyx .com with details? I'm still a little hazy about your proposal.

Damn, Taboo, you do think big!
I'm not so eager to join an empire, but I do think you are on the trail of something huge. Your email comparison is most apt.
As you may remember from our emails a few months back, I've been working on my own little adult blogging satrapy since October 2002. (Hey, was anybody here adult-blogging for profit before that? At the time, I thought I had invented the idea.) Anyway, I'm running several adult blogs and it's been real good to me.
Gigi is right, though -- blogging for profit is a lot more like work than your typical adult site. Those daily (or at least, regular) updates are absolutely key.
It's worth it though -- I've got one blog that's the number one Google result for a nice adult keyword. People keep offering to buy it, but nobody likes my I-don't-want-to-sell-it-very-bad price.
Although I'm not much on empires (if I'm gonna go to all the effort to build a blogging brand, I'd sure hate not to be 100% owner of the domain and the intellectual property when I was done) I'll be real interested to see how your project comes along. We could certainly work a deal on traffic trading and/or cross-promotion when you get to that point.
For folks who are thinking about adult blogging, I also have some domains I haven't developed yet, that could be available to suitably pursuasive offerors:
kinkblog.com
leatherblog.com
c u n t blog.com (spaces added to defeat GFY filter)
lustblog.com
squirtingblog.com
fistingblog.com
jackblog.com
enemablog.com
peeblog.com
pissingblog.com
tortureblog.com
Best of luck, Taboo, and do keep us posted!Last edited by Forkbeard; 12-04-2004, 08:45 AM.Offering sponsored blog posts and custom writing services.Comment

read the news links I put in first post. especially the China news link. but read them all and you may see the potential. Definitely not for everyone, it is a time-consuming endeavor but my plan is to have hundreds of bloggers & experts (programmers, designers, SEOs, marketing, etc) working on the same team to build a solid foundation for a future internet empire... that everyone involved owns a stake in.Originally posted by groark

yes, bloggers who bring their own domains will retain ownership of their domains. IP will be jointly owned by bloggers and the network.
re: cross-promotion & traffic-trading
YES, but very limited, because we will be sending the bulk of the traffic to sites/blogs within the network.
if anyone has more questions, please post them.Comment

you play the game your way, I'll play it my way.
and your reasoning is a bit flawed.
That was then...
Sergey: Larry, are we still going to build that new web site?
Larry: Sergey, are you crazy? There are already too many big players out there. No one would ever find us.
Sergey: True, but let's build one anyway. The big guys don't own the whole market, all we need is a few loyal users.
Larry: But what if we fail? Many of our friends laughed at us when we told them. What if they're right and we're wrong?
Sergey: But there were a few people that believe we've got a chance. Let's do it anyway... we've got nothing to lose.
Larry: Sure, why not. Maybe someday we'll be millionaires.
Sergey: LOL. But we're college drop-outs... do we even stand a chance?
Larry: Big deal... so was Bill Gates. LOL. Hey, maybe someday we'll get to meet him.
Sergey: Yeah, right... like he'll even know we exist.
Larry: LOL, yeah, screw everyone... let's build it anyway.
This is now...
Laughing all the way to the bank.
....
you know the famous saying:
There are 3 kinds of people in life.
- Those who make it happen
- Those who watch it happen
- and those who wonder "what the fuck just happened"

I'm not worried about the competition. The competition can quickly & easily be transformed into a prospective partner or suitor.Comment

re: lots of emails requesting DJ blogs etc...
Yes, quite a few DJ blog & site domains will be used.
DJBlog.com
DJAgency.com
and just acquired DJSearch.com last week. Plus a few more.
and of course the DJ section of Official.com will be pushing traffic to the blog network.
I've got about 80+ more emails to go thru, I will get to all of them. And thanks for all the feedback & enthusiasm. keep it coming.Comment

Good idea or great idea, but too be honest I think it's a little bit overwhelming to try to dominate the market with owning all the domains?
Maybe I missing something?

If the network finds a suitor, everyone on board benefits financially. That's the best part of working together.Comment

Let me ask a question on here.
I own a few blog domains.
I dont want to provide the daily content for the blogs.
How can I fit in with your empire?
That's the way I prefer it.
You keep the domains, you provide the content, I provide the rest.
"the rest" = secret for now.
there is room for you in the network and revenue/traffic-share opportunities. and it's not going to be "my" empire. it will belong to the people who helped build it.
what are the domains?Comment

So what you are telling me is that I would have to provide daily content or find a servcie to provide the content.
That would seem difficult if I had 100 or so domians.
By the way, I dont have any A+ level blog domains, lets just say I have a few A- , a bunch of B+'s.
All are dot.com, two word type with no numbers or hyphens or crap like that.
Alot are mainstream
I would love to discuss this furtherComment

I just snatched up three domains that I'm really shocked no one had grabbed.
dominatrixblog.com
dominablog.com
dommeblog.com
Those should prove to be interesting.Comment

I'm interested in this as well.
I just got into the "artistic nudes" niche, and it's already paying off. I'm getting crazy traffic for only being up for about two weeks (http://www.primanudes.com). It's already up to 10k a day, with just links and SE, but we'll see how long that lasts..
I have:
blognudes.com/net
nudesblog.com/net
nudeartblog.com/net
and I grabbed dailydirtblog.com/net just for fun.
None are online - just grabbed them.
I'm thinking about using these to promote primanudes.com with site updates, member pic uploads, etc. Maybe forum but I don't think I'll have time for that.
"Nude Art" is big on overture (relatively - it's an underserved market, I think).
What blog software are you using? Will there need to be some level of compatibility between the different blog software within the "empire"? Other than the obvious, like RSS capabilities.
Thanks - I'll cc this to you in e-mail.Comment
