this weekend I will buy a car for my youngest daughter. What should I buy her.

I read Clark Howard's web site and have decided to buy a one or two year old medium size SUV for her.

this weekend we will go out and find at least 10 good cars on dealer lots. Then use Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds to get a better idea about the real value of each. BMW, Lexus, Merceedes (spelling is bad), and many others that retain good value over the next three years.

should be fun. My oldest daughter is jealous. But at the time she got her car my Ex was involved an they both did not listen to me. She got what she is stuck with.

If you want a medium size SUV go with something from ford. they do have that new hybrid that is ok size, and gets great gas milage.

If you're buying the car for her, make sure that means you're paying completely in cash or making the payments for her, or she'll curse you for having bought an expensive car that she has to pay for. (Happened to a cousin of my husband's. She had to drop out of college just to be able to work in order to make the payments. )

just get her a little Honda cr-v instead of a gas guzzling machine. Hondas have good resalel value as well and the cr-v is a nice suv and surprisingly roomy.

Why spend that much money on a car with 70k + miles on it for a teenager? 99-00 BMW's are for posuers. Get her an Altima.

Get her a 1996 Honda Civic with 100,000 miles. It will go to 200,000 so you won't have to buy her another car until she's 28!

yeah, i promised my daughter a new car at christmas as a college graduation present.

my number one critera will be her personal safety.

front and side airbags, rollover protection, accident safety data, etc.

call me old fashioned.

SUV would not be on my list.

Debbie the Lexus RX 300 would be an ideal choice at two or three years old they are fairly affordable even by today's standards and the car is a toyota it will run forever. The Lexus navigation is second to none...they are safe....reliable....and they do hold value.

If she really enjoys it the hybrid version arrives in 05 and will be sure to offered for years rto come and Lexus will always give decent value on a Lexus trade in

First, I will be looking at one to two year old cars. Most of the value drop will be done with.

Second, money is not a factor.

Third, she is sixteen and will have the car for 2 1/2 year during highschool. I will pay for half of everything, insurance, gas, etc.

Fourth, only buy outright cash (put it on a AMEX platium business) and pay that off one week later or earlier.

Fifth, I want her to drive a car she can see the traffic in. I also want airbags everywhere. She is a really good smart kid now that she lives only with me. She drive my jag and expidition very well.

well see.

Here's some advice I think you should take...
The first vehicle you buy for a young girl you should consider a complete write off... more than likely they'll crash the damn thing so don't expect to sell the thing in 3 years instead expect to haul it to the junk yard within 2 years!

my vote is for a Nissan Xtera. They are pretty sweet and affordable. Get the V6 instead of 4 cyl though or you'll be doggin.
