Well, last night they had an "around the world" party or some such shit, which meant in every room they had a liquor from a different country, so I was drinking Sake(fucking gross cold or hot), Sambuka(I didn't trust those fuckers enough to have it flaming ), Captain and coke, apple pie shots(apple juice, mixed with vodka and with whip cream put in your mouth after you put the shot in), and a buncha other shit I don't even remember. Back in my power-drinking days, while in alcohol training for one of my Acapulco trips, I drank 27 tequilas one night along with 15 or more beers, and I lived to tell about it. I could chug straight hard stuff with anybody, but......so what? I just get bored with the same drink over and over and over again, and anyone that says they love only straight vodka or any straight anything of "hard liquor" is lying or has burned their tastebuds off their tongue. I, like many other bartenders before me, think that the best drinks are those where you can't even taste the booze, yet the drink blows your head off.

There's no sweeter music to a bartender's ears than to hear someone say "mmmmmmm, that's a goooood drink" and a few minutes later they say "wow, who put that ocean there?" or "stop the world, I wanna get on" LOL

Hey, if ya like only standard straightup shots or beer, more power to you, I've killed enough for 100 guys over the years myself. But the original question stemmed from boredom of straight shots of Scotch, the person was asking what some good drinks were, right? I thought a little imagination was called for.

Don't get me started on blender drinks.

An entertaining one is the "Flaming Dr. Pepper". Take a shot glass and fill it with Bacardi 151 and light it. Let it burn for about 4-5 seconds, then drop the shot glass into a mug of beer...Bud Light will get you the best taste. Then chug the beer...tastes like Dr. Pepper and 4 of them will put you on the ground.

Okay so being a big Hitch Hikers' Gud eto the Galaxy fan I just couldn't help myself;

Here's the recipe for a pan galactic gargle blaster (well one recipe any way - there are literally hundreds):

mix together the following amounts of
ingredients as described above for a single serving.

1) 1 oz. EverClear
2) 4 oz. Bombay Sapphire or Jeremiah Weed
3) 4 oz. Cold Wild Turkey
4) 2 oz. Herredura Tequila
5) 5 oz. Rum
6) 1 worm from bottle of Mezcla
7) 2 oz. Gatorade

This makes one approximately 18 ounce Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster. The reason this drink seems so large is that Zaphod Beeblebrox has two heads, so when he created it, it came out to 9 ounces per head, so both were happy.

Before drinking, eat one olive to create a sweetness in it which is not there.

Drink very, very extremely carefully at your own risk, and remember where your towel is (if you can).

As for the sweetness of the drinks comment.... if you drink a large glass of water before and after drinking, you should be fine. Works for me. I also make sure I never drink on an empty stomach. If I do I puke righteously.

In My 'Drink ANYONE under the table days (religiously drank about 20 pints of guiness a day and drank beamish red for breakfast folowed by beef and guiness pie )
I used to find that drinking even ha;lf a glass of milk befor egoing on a splurge is best for lining the stomach.
If you don't like the taste of milk - a choccy milkshake will do - but don't drink too much you don't want it to sit it your stomach and curdle with the alcohol - just enough to line you should be alright.

(coming from someone who has a bad stomach ulcer at the age of 22 - this might not be the best advice to follow!)
