Discussion On Gallery Etiquette....TGP Owners Please Read.
I'm still pretty new to this biz and have been making galleries for a couple of months now.
I have a couple of questions about gallery etiquette regarding sponsors, banners, submissions etc. I thought maybe this could start a pretty good dialogue between us gallery makers and the tgp owners out there if they would please read and respond as well as other gallery makers. #1 Although most tgp's limit # of banners/liks I still come across hundreds of galleries promoting a variety of sponsors. Example: Teen gallery promoting ARS' All Petite, Cute Girlfriend, Penis Enlargement, and Internet Eraser. Layout is still nice. So is this a widely accepted standard or something frowned upon? And for gallery makers is this a wise decision, does this increase or decrease sales? #2 Submissions specifically resubmitting old galleries. Is it fine to resubmit old galleries using the same url, same gallery, same pics after 30-45 days? Do tgp owners frown on this? Would it be better to change the url, resize and rename the pics etc? Well I truly hope this opens up some dialogue between us all. As I am sure there are more questions out there I just didn't want the first post to be a mini-novel. Thank you for your time, eros |

From your post, you assume there's a uniformed standard for TGP owners, which is far from the case...
1.Some care, Some don't... And yes, I think it hurts a posters chance of making a sale by adding more than 1 sponsor on a gallery. Focus all your energy luring the surfer into going to that sponsor... 2.Again Some care, some don't...However, galleries that worked well in the past, can work well again, just rename it and submit...Just a FYI, most TGPs submit systems won't let you resubmit the same url twice. ![]() ------------------ Don't Fuck Yourself, get paid 71%... I'm just trying to get a consensus here...a discussion not an approval...see what people think. For instance I never considered the "doorway page" part of it...I was just being lazy and wanting to submit the same url...LOL. eros [This message has been edited by eroswebmaster (edited 09-26-2001).] |

1. All submitters are equal, but some are more equal: ppl who pay for the listing, reviewers who get paid with listings, best friends etc. etc. Those ppl are not allowed to fuck around, but they have more freedom to design their site.
2. You try to tell the surfer: "XXX is the best teen site ever". How much best teen sites do you know? Think about a car dealer telling his customer: "A Porsche is the best car you can get for 100k." and 2 minutes later: " A Mercedes is the best car you can get for 100k." Would you buy? 3. What can work is if the 2. sponsor offers something completly different. A porn site and a security tool or a porn site and a penis enlargement program. 4. Some TGP don't allow any repost of the same pics, some allow the same pics after 4 weeks or 3 months. There is no standard, you must read every rules page. But I can't remember a TGP that allows the same URL again. Tom named one reason. An other reason is: the URL are saved in the history, and if the TGP is not fooling too much around, the surfer can see which galleries he has visited before. And if he is entering a TGP and sees a lot of visited links, maybe he will leave at once. 5. Concerning the dialouge: you are banned. Period. |

One thing you can do is after a gallery has run its course on a tgp, make it into an AVS site...takes very little effort to do that

To prevent someone from seeing visited links, just set all your link, active, & visited to the same color. (active isn't really necessary)
Recycling is a great idea if you're strapped for content and need to stretch it as far as possible. What I do is make my AVS sites, and since I have gobs of content, I just strip 20 or so pics from the sets and make a gallery from it to promote the AVS... this way I can put up the AVS site and forget about it, submit the gallery.... and move on to the next ones. Never have to go back and change anything, unless a sponsor kills a site or something. Like someone else said, never take down a gallery. Leave 'em be and let the engines pick 'em up over time... plus alot of TGPs will archive their gallery submissions forever, unless they're broken. After a few months, if you're behind or stuck on something, go back and resubmit an old gallery. After several months you should be fine. |
