I didn't read the whole thread so if this was mentioned, I'm sorry. Just a thought, but when the draws are made to decide who gets whom, it might be better to cluster people from the same country together. Mostly because of electronics exports laws and to avoid hassles with customs. Just my thoughts from previous xmas seasons.

Thing is, I really DO put the names in a hat. Perhaps if someone gets someone from a different country, instead of purchasing something, how about a gift certificate or some intangibles like design work, etc.?

that would work, or you could divide the countrys up evenly, then put all their names in a seperate hat and draw names.

Ah, but what if I don't have an even number of people from the same country?

What I'll do is tell those who draw people outside their own country to consider a gift certificate or perhaps intangibles. That way they can do whatever's easiest for them.
