It's not really surprising. Quite a few men are passive pedophiles. They wouldn't touch/harm a child, but they don't mind looking at pictures. Same thing with the whole rape/gore niche. I assume that most people who like watch rape scenes and mutilated bodies aren't actually considering committing crimes. They just deal with their peculiar fetish in a harmless way.
