Do you guys think this whole Iraq business was just a way to move the battlefront? Seriously, there hasn't been an attack in the States since it started. If it was just a way to create a battlefield elsewhere for all anti-American fighters it was probably a good idea and something Bush couldn't publicly state without getting trashed.

I don't agree with that, but I do think it was just a strategic war that they wanted to do for a long time but until 911, there wouldn't have been the public support for it.

Interesting idea. I think it was a welcome byproduct of a long term strategy. The sanctions against Iraq (essentially an economic blockade, like the naval blockades of the past) pointed to an eventual invasion of Iraq. If that's their plan, it's a pretty bad one. The fact that there hasn't been a major attack on US soil since 9/11 isn't anything to brag about, and it has nothing to do with Iraq, the last attacks were a decade apart. You're bringing the battle to people who weren't in it before, who wanted nothing to do with it, you can't just lump all brown people together. Now you're just creating more enemies, and you haven't weakened Al Qaeda. You should have kept the battlefield in Afghanistan, and finished the job there.
This war was about Neo cons employing their policy of pre-emption on regimes they decide aren't friendly to US interests. Everything they tell you on the news about what they went to war, what they're doing over there, and what they're achieving is bullshit, but most of you guys realize that by now. It's too bad, the media is what stopped the Vietnam war, by telling people the truth of what was going on. Now the US won't even let Al Jazeera broadcast real pictures from the war without shutting them down and bombing their studios, let alone US networks.Comment

Please, the whole run-up to the war was based on lies and faulty intelligence, it was a made for TV war to get the public support behind it. Throw in a little mention of Al Qaeda every now and again and WMD's you can get the masses to believe anything these days.
