has anyone here met Bill Gates in person?

I did.

back in 1999 at 11:30pm at a private airport in Seattle.

While I waited to get my rental car (I flew in on a twin cessna) he came in on a leased Gulfstream IV, with a woman who I believe is now his wife.

We both had to wait for our cars to be brought up. He left in a ford taurus, I left in a lincoln towncar. Normal guy with hushpuppys and shitty pants. that is all I remember.

back then he did drive away. He got his car before I got mine by about 1 minute.

I kept looking at him and wondering if it was really him. When the person at the counter said "Mr. Gates your car is ready" I knew.

I though that was pretty cool.

I have met many stars over the years when working in the aerospace industry. They would buy a GIV, back then, and add 1 to 2 million inside. I was incharge of the LCD, cabin manigment systems, audio, LCDs, plasmas, and avionics.

I know a lot about aircraft.

Yes, I have. Won't tell you the company name, but I used to be with a company that was purchased by Microsoft. Shortly after we were bought out, Bill Gates came to our office, and gave us an amazingly inspiring speech. It was us (about 115 of us) and him, in our company media room.

Actually, not even really sure what all he said...when you are in the same room as a fella like him, it's hard to stay focused.

remember, if he would have sold "DOS" to IBM for 250K it would have been all over, OVER!

He got lucky, lucky, lucky, with huge amount of money you can always get really good help. Paul Allen is much smarter than gates in the early times. I think that he is smarter now. He does not have to deal with any day to day things, lawsuits, etc. I left and is still one of the top five richest people.

I stayed at the same hotel as him in Manhatten and he was eating in the hotel restaurant but I didn't actually go up and introduce myself.

This was back in 1999.

When you've got that kind of money, you could be bald with a brillo pad glued to your head and still get all the 'tang and business deals you need.

That car rental story is funny.
Kind of lets the chrome rim crowd see the difference between being rich and being wealthy (as Chris Rock put it)

My brother has been to his house to fix his hottub but never got close enough to see him.

I was driving in Bellevue one day and we drove by his house while they were still working on it to see if we could see anything. It's too far back from the road but so didn't see shit but driving back, Bill, his wife and kids were all walking down the middle of the road.

My Aunt and Uncle who live in Washington belong to the Bellevue Club (I think thats the one) where he is also a member, they see him all the time. Hes a down to Earth normal guy from what they say, before he started getting death threats and stuff he would always eat at a place called Godfather's Pizza, which is like Pizza Hut. Man, they have some kickass dessert pizza there.
