When reports surfaced in February that Marissa Pomarico's sister, Kimberly Alvarado, was neglecting her two children, Alvarado lost custody of them. The Department of Children's Services in New York charged that Alvarado had neglected to properly care for 5-year-old Justin Scaglione and 1-year-old Lexie Fennell-- and that Lexie had been burned but never taken to a hospital. The two children were removed from Kimberly's care and placed with some relatives in Staten Island. The NYPD says Marissa helped her sister abduct two children from foster care. Sisters Snag The Children The NYPD says Marissa helped her sister Kimberly Alvardo abduct her two children from a foster home in Staten Island. Police say that on May 16 the sisters set out to reclaim what was once Alvarado's. According to police, the pair went to Staten Island and ransacked the place Alvarado's children were staying. Witnesses say the two sisters yelled obscenities as they threw all of the children's belongings in their car. Then, witnesses say the sisters grabbed Lexie and Justin, put them in the car, and sped off. They have not been seen since. The NYPD issued warrants for both Alvarado and Pomarico. Alvarado has previously been charged with larceny. Police Get A Promising Lead In August Detective John Burgess received a tip that Pomarico was on a pornographic website. He tracked the IP address of the website to Florida but has been unsuccessful in tracking down Marissa or Kimberly-- but he does have new information. Detective Burgess says Pomarico is going by the name Brittany. He says he was told that the porn video could have been shot anywhere and there is no way to trace her. Now the NYPD is asking for help from the public to bring these two women to justice and to get these two children home-- and out of the care of the woman police say is unfit to be a responsible mother.
