Uh..good idea Ed.lets rebuild buildings that they already know how to knock down.

On a serious note, how about making it a corporation & sell stock offering it to whomever wants to invest. Eventually, everyone would make their money back, but I think it'd be a good solution to help both the WTC & it's insurance companies. I don't mean it necessarily as a money maker, but more of a helping hand.

Oscer, it was able to withstand the plane flying into it... the flames were what finally did it in. There were over 50,000 in those buildings and most were able to escape.

I doubt they will be able to make a fire proof building.

It wasn't the plane's impact that knocked them down, the fire fueled by the tonnes of jet fuel softened the steel and caused the structural members to buckle, once one level failed, every level below that was over loaded

It is not clear if re-enforced concrete structure (such as modern bridges etc) would have behaved differently, safe to say that the time to structural failure would have been longer

The tower didn't fall over. It collapsed. It didn't fall over because of the base, so creating a bigger base solves nothing. You are creating a design that fixs a problem it never had.

It fell because of the fire - all buildings will eventually fall if they are burning with that much heat.

Read the post in the thread above, and you'll see that what happened is what was suppose to happen. Tons of lives were saved because of the tower's design...
