I've got a little domain name issue

I've got a little domain name issue

I would like to hear your comments.
Last year I registered an awesome domain name (so I think).

I was amazed it was available and built a little mainstream portal on it.

to explain: the domain is like this:
keyword1-keyword2.ext

a very nice combo.

I called an hour ago the owner of
keyword1keyword2.ext (notice no dash)

I said I understand that it is my fault that I didn't register my name a few years ago... but I also said I want to own his name. I offered him to pay his "business expenses" and a little more. I was a little whiny and shit...

Would like to know what you'd do. As far as my legal knowledge tells me he has no legal rights to own this domainname... so should I let it go?

Lemme hear your comments/thoughts.

You didnt mention who registered first. Perhaps neither of you have an inherent "right" to own your domain names. Maybe none of us does.
Do you own a product or service with the names you mention? Perhaps you'd have a legal "right" in that case. You also didnt mention how he reacted.
I'd recommend consulting a lawyer familiar with domain name litigation.
