The Secret Side of Condoleezza Rice
You know her as the steely, smart, workaholic national security advisor to President George W. Bush. But Condoleezza Rice, the president's pick for secretary of state, has a secret side to her personal life she jealously guards.
According to The New York Post, this is the real Condi.
She's a clothes horse:
--She is as compulsive about shopping and her appearance as she is about her work. While she often appears on the Sunday morning talk shows, it's not unusual to find her at a Washington area mall in the afternoon.
--She wears a size 6. She prefers classic, bold-colored suits with skirts cut just above the knee. She shuns prints.
--Condi likes simple gold jewelry--and it has to be the real thing. When a clerk in an expensive store once pulled out a drawer of costume jewelry after Condi asked to see the real deal, Condi had a quick retort that she repeats often in interviews: "Let's get one thing straight. You're behind the counter because you have to work for $6 an hour. I'm on this side asking to see the good jewelry because I make considerably more."
How she starts her day:
--She gets up at 5 a.m. every day and hits the treadmill while watching the news on television.
--She eats a bagel or bowl of cereal for breakfast.
