    Monitor Life

I have a 19" viewsonic A90 monitor. It is about 7 years old. Although it is a monster in size (sticks out 2 ft. to the back), it has great resolution and color. It has been acting up over the past few months. It will flash off for a few seconds and then flash on. It'll get white horizontal flashes across the screen once in a while and sometimes the colors will all fade lighter then flash back to normal. Seems like the tube is going.

    1) What is the average life of a tubed monitor?

    2) Is it worth getting it fixed?

    3) I am interested in a flat screen/lcd/plasma monitor, what are the major differences.

    4) Where is the best/cheapest place to buy a new monitor.

    Thanks

Difference in flat panel? SPACE. You will have SO much more room and very little heat coming from it. Just order online from a respected retailer, wait for a good deal or coupon. http://www.pricegrabber.com but be wary of the lowest prices, sometimes they can try to sell you other stuff and refuse your order unless you buy the other stuff.
