Well, gosh... I don't really know. Which lives are we talking about? Are we talking about Bin Laden's life versus a 3 year old child in daycare somewhere in Iowa?

And what are we basing the merit on? Money? If that's the case, I'd probably have to say Bin Laden's got more value. Are we basing it on a history of evil deeds done? If so, I'd probably go with the 3 year old.

What exactly is your definition of value and where are you getting it from? Value meaning what? Are they both important people? Sure. They're both important to someone somewhere.

Is this based on geographic location? If so, what if they were to switch places? Does that make them different people? I don't think it does. One is still a three year old and the other is a terrorist.

None of this applies? Then what does?

All things being equal between the two, how can ANYONE suggest that one is worth more than the other. But all things are not equal... are they. They never are.

You're asking a question that defines no boundaries and gives no frame of reference with which to objectively evaluate the situation. No person in their right mind would choose one over the other on that broad of a scope. Notice I said 'right mind'.

Still, on a broad scope of things, is one life worth more than another? Sure. I believe so.

But I also believe that it must be guaged on merit. Was Jeffery Dahmer's life worth the same as some broker on Wall Street? No. Why? Because Dahmer's life had no merit whatsoever. He was a freak of nature and civility. Even people with less than optimal merit in life (the prisoners in Portage, WI) could not live with him and ultimately dispatched his worthless ass.

I said that question didn't deserve an answer for a reason. Not because I don't like you. By asking that question, you are asking people to choose between one or the other with zero knowledge of either. Most people simply won't do that.

Nor, should they.
