Wal-Mart has 460 terabytes of customer data.

    http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory...siness/2899305

    the article states that:

"Wal-Mart has 460 terabytes of data stored on mainframes. The Internet has less than half as much data, according to experts."

Some how, I doubt there is less than 230 TB of storage on the net.

"We didn't know in the past that strawberry Pop-Tarts increase in sales, like seven times their normal sales rate, ahead of a hurricane," Dillman said. "And the pre-hurricane top-selling item was beer."
Nice to know that Floridians facing a hurricane still have priorities

I've been watching CNBC's Inside Wal-Mart report for the last few hours.

This company's infrastructure is the most elaborate I've ever seen. They have it all nailed down.

The only computer network larger is the Pentagon's.

They have it wired so that every single transaction goes into the main database within 15 minutes.

Vendors can monitor product inventory and sales in real time through this network as well.

Do they sell their customer information off? Or do they buy it and then take over the town.

Interesting stat. At any one time Wal-Mart has 5,000 lawsuits against the company it is dealing with.

                  Wow.

Wal-Mart has over 1.5 Million employees.

The annual turnover rate is 44%.

So it has to hire 600,000 new employees each year just to sustain the 44% that quit each year.

I guess those smilie faces aren't what they appear.

I was at walmart with my brother a few weeks ago, he is an attorney, he made a purchase and they asked him for his drivers license before they would process his credit card.

He told the cashier that they are not allowed to ask for an id with a credit card and refused to produce his, the manager came over and things started getting nasty, they were yelling at each other.

He told the manager to read their merchant account tos to see what it says about asking for an id, the manager whispered in my brothers ear that this is walmart and we dont give a shit about the cc companies tos, we were then escorted from the store
