Is Etrade the worst online brokerage around?

Seriously what's going on? I made a transaction and it seems I owe them $25.46 for no reason and nobody there seems willing to reply to my emails and that amount keeps growing every week.

dude they are messed up.

I deposited CDN money to buy some more stock.
They put it in my USD account for some reason..and i got dinged on the transfer, then i made my buy and got hosed on their new USD rate...took four days for me to get the stocks moved to my CDN account which is my active one. They shut it down though, as they were worried about money laundering or some shit....i yelled at them and said to let my bank worry about that as that is where the money comes from.

I cant get over these guys....so after all that is said and done..today i look and i have a negative cash balance owing to them, the money they tranferred to my CDN account from my us account was showing like i owed them that much.

Took 35 minutes on hold and then 20 minutes of BS and worrying about money laundering once i actually got a customer service agent on.

They are clueless, and have grown too large to effectively manage themselves.

Be wary with your money there

My brother uses Ameritrade and they've been really good as far as I know. Plus their software is kick ass

I'd love to move out but I can tell they're going to nail me on some crazy charges to move my stocks out. I guess I could just sell them outright and buy them back with Royal Bank or something.

When I first transferred money into an IRA, I had done 2 at the same time. My wife's and mine. Somehow, hers got processed and mine didn't. They simply lost it. No one knew where it was, no one could find it. Then one day they found it, and credited my account with intrest at prime.

Since then I've refinanced twice with them. Both times getting excellent rates, and have opened an account for my 3 year old. And a ban account. Since that IRA fiasco, I have never had a problem. But during that IRA fuckup I was pretty pissed but I gave them the benifit of the doubt and so far it's been nice. We made a nice chunk of change on a few stocks last year... it's all been going good.

Having said that, I still wouldn't recommend them. When it comes to money and frineds, I say never mix the 2. What works for me may turn out to be a big nightmare for you and when it comes to money, it's the #1 killer of friendships.
