    Help. Need stable fast socks proxies, not for email spam.

    I'm wanting to run my own socks proxies on a number of ip's. What is the best way / how should i go about doing this? Please help.

          I'm guessing you're looking for a dedicated proxy? If so, I'm also looking for something very similar. There seems to be very little documentation and information available for this though.

          I was hoping to have a my servers act like a dedicated proxy bridge between my personal computers and the Internet (based off each IP). There's many benefits to this, if done right. I would even be willing to pay, if someone can point me onto a reliable source.

          If it helps, there's an open source HTTPS proxy which can be found @ www.squid-cache.org

                  Yeh, I'm going to look into the proxy trojan method as a last resort. I dont reallly like the idea of having to go that route though. There SHOULD be open docs on this somewhere.

                      It's not just "an open source HTTPS proxy", is the most used proxy for HTTP/HTTPS/FTP. And you don't have to pay anyone, www.squid-cache.org is a very reliable source already

                      But it does not support SOCKS proxy, as requested by the initial post. For SOCKS proxy service you can use this one.

                              if I were given the obvious spamware you're about to unleash and the how's/what's of it of course private proxies could be made available....


                              but what you're planning to do with them is 'huh?' naa uhh....


                              it's doable, but go fish....anyone in that game already knows how to do what you're looking to do....no competition is giving up that angle

                                  Just be sure not to spawn another "free" proxy/socks a.k.a configure yours correctly. I strongly suggest listening for connection requests only from your (internal) LAN card, build a decent firewall on that machine, secure your proxy with user/pass ACL style.

                                  If you really feel the need to onorate requests from WAN/internet card, add filtering by IP address (MAC too for paranoid-mode-admin). Drop unknown packets like there is no tomorrow and don't look back. If u want to implement some kind of logging for this specific service (to check what script kiddo is scanning you), use iptables LOG facility combined with limit module not to overgrow your log files.
