WRX Wagon isn't available as an STI, just the WRX Sedan.

No need to be riding around in anything nice for the winter as it is going to get fucked up sooner or later...

2005, it's still on the way to the dealership. you can't get the STI in the wagon form, which is what I wanted for hauling shit around, and driving on icy/snowy roads in the winter.

A friend of mine recently relocated to Idaho...about forty miles below the Canadian border. He said that everyone in the area drives Subarus so he bought one. Why are Subarus popular in snow country?

i was actually considering the new Saab 9-2X (which is basically a re-badged WRX with a nicer interior), but i really didn't want anything too 'nice' that i'd have to worry about. this is my beater. it will also be used to drive out to remote locations and left all day when doing hikes and scrambles in the summer, so i didn't want anything i'd think twice about driving on rough roads, etc.

sly, what time do i pick you up?

Find some photos of the first Subaru 4wd wagon they released internationally and you'll know what ugly really is

They looked about as flimsy as an empty Coke can but there are some still plugging along here in Australia

Quiet, I always like what you have to say and respect you a great deal. Ya I know I am gonna get blasted because I only have 100 posts, but calling a brand new 2005 Subaru a beater??? Come on now, WTF!!! Ya we know you got lots of money, but with your remarks of calling a brand new decent car a beater, it makes you look like your just bragging about how rich you are, pretty lame.

My "winter beater" is an 82 Ford F-150 that is literally beat to hell, looks like shit, but runs like its brand new.

they are very, very good in the snow. tough, reasonably cheap, with an advanced all-wheel drive system that rocks. i assume these are the main reasons.

great handling in the dry and rough as well. i can't wait to get mine.

Good choice, it's AWD has some balls and it will fit your snowboard, hiking equipment and a case of beer

I've decided to hold on to my Audi S4 AWD for the winter as Ontario has some very unpleasant winters. In the spring I will start shopping for a replacement

I've been looking at the new Saab version because I get a nice discount from GM. Right now they'll give me $5k off of sticker.
