I certainly believe this to be so (although I guess can depend on the company), what about you ???
One year of work at an internet company is worth 5 years experience

I've always kinda wondered what I'd be worth to a mainstream company. Like if I ever got out of adult for some reason and needed a "real" job then what would I get paid.
I droped out of college when this biz took off for me 6 years ago so I don't have a degree. So I really don't know what I'd be qualified to do
I mean how would the interview go:
"Ya I made tons of money in adult internet. I was good at getting traffic and selling it to sponsors."
I doubt that phrase translates to a 6 figure salary, lol
Hopefully I'm here for good

I have no degree either....but any company that requires one, I would likely label as 'traditional' and not want to be a part of anywaysOriginally posted by Meloman

I've also seen, in the process of hiring many people, that someone with some experience is a LOT more valuale than someone out fo school with a degree but no experience.
The other thing is, school is always behind. Example, if a new programming language comes out, it will be many years before schools ever include it in their curriculum....so you will get someone with basic programming theory but no practical knowledge

What you learn in University is how to learn. Finishing a degree shows an employer you can commit yourself and you're able to learn and then perform tasks as instructed..Comment

It's funny that you say that. My very first job was being a telemarketer back when I was 16. I kept that job for about 2 years. I was one of there top employees practically over night. It really does give you GREAT people/social/sales skills.Originally posted by KRL

I've always had great communication skills though so the job came naturally to me.
I can honestly say that the reason I'm still here in adult is because of my networking/social skills.
Hmmm, I guess now that I think about it... if I ever leave this business then a high end sales job would be perfect for me.Comment

Can you get the same type of experience at a collection agency?
Those people suck. Had one has a consulting client and couldn't believe the nasty shit they pull. They all had real attitudes! I'd skip it. My

I have made that transistion. It's hard to find a company that will even look at you once they know you have been in adult. When I finally found one, I had to spend a lot of time with legal to help "clean up" my history.Originally posted by Meloman
