if he sucks at seo , you probably are right and he wont be in top 10 , but if he makes an effort he WILL be in top 10 for at least one of those keywords

it dosen't really matter if you have one word .info names or names with slashes.. You aren't going to get many type-ins on a .info name. The only thing they are good for IMO is SE sites.

Domains used to matter a lot more than they do now.

In fact, launching your 'seo' elements under a single well structured (preferably existing) domain will take off faster than launching a whole new bunch of domains.

The turn-around for new domains in SERPS is becoming unbelievably long for many of the popular search engines.
