Another one of those "FREAKY SHIT!!!!" type posts

Posted on 30th September 2000, I bet that the author feels a little weird when he remembers this -
http://www.airliners.net/discussions...d.main/336291/

Quote:
When the two towers that make up the World Trade Center were built, they were designed to withstand the impact of the largest airliner of the day, the Boeing 707 Intercontinental. The Empire State Building survived a B-25 medium bomber crashing into it on very foggy day. It was during the weekend when most people weren't there, but still, 14 people died.

Anyone wanna bet that the World Trade Center could survive an 767-300 impact?

I think most experts agree the reason the building collapsed is because of the huge amounts of heat from enough fuel burning to carry that plane across the country. They definitely planned that.

As for the building surviving the crash - it did. It didn't topple. So the guy was right. The architects should be proud. Imagine how many more people would be dead if it had... everyone inside the building (no would have a chance to escape) and many, many others.

As for the fire, they said most buildings are built to withstand fire for 2-3 hours. There was just an unpredictable amount of heat from all that fuel... no normal fire or plane crash would cause it.

Unfortunately, this was well planned.

Has anybody else besides me pondered the possibility that the very discussion posted in the above URL may have even been "INSPIRATION" for the hijackers ???

The FBI and CIA have said that the hijackers had been residing, and getting their training, in the US prior to the attack ...

Is it unreasonable to think that just maybe... while taking their aviation training... they came accross this aviation discussion board ???
Hmmmmm makes you wonder

A point that needs to seriously be considered is the freedom at which anyone can get building plans for major buildings. You can't take photos inside some government buildings but almost everything there is to know could easily be known about the WTC. Buildings that were already once hit by terrorists.

Damn, it's strange how people were talking like that back then. Time to send the FBI to that guy's house, ha ha ha.

You're making the mistake that terrorists are stupid, they're not. In a previous life I wrote software to train x-ray screeners at airports, and I talked with many security experts in the field. Trust me, there is virtually nothing that hasn't been tried or planned out, it's usually other issues that prevent the act taking place.

I highly doubt this, Hungryman, but you do have a point. I know that there was a robbery of something (I can't fucking remember what it was for the life of me) that they (the robbers) claimed was inspired by the shooting scene in the Matrix movie... nuts, huh? But I doubt people are willing to die just to prove a point. They probably decided that it was the easiest mass destructive weapon they could get their hands on.

No Juge ... I was not saying that they did it to prove anything. Bin Laden's group of Merrymen consider sacrificing their lives an honorable thing for their cause ... what I was saying, is that that thread sure sounds like a few loose screws plotting something ... since everybody uses a nickname, who's to say that the hijackers were not active participants in the thread, discussing at great lengths the effects that a large commercial carrier would have on the WTC if flown into it, at a great rate of speed ??? Don't forget, that a computer was confiscated from that dude's house in Vero Beach...

Oh, sorry, HUNGRYMAN, I get ya. You were saying they were writing the posts, not acting upon them. The probability of that is much higher, obviously.

Another thing, here's a link to the video courtesy of www.cnn.com that explains the thoughts regarding the building's structure; they explain it much better than my post, but it is what I was trying to explain: note the "...just like it was supposed to" part of the speech.
