Well you can just get a dedicated server and stream from there.. you just need to do the maths. Assuming you stream at a rate of 128kbps, a 5 min song is about 3mb.

So to stream 1 user for a whole day will be 3 * 12 = 36 * 24 =

864mb a day for 1 user. * 30 = 25920mb /26gb a month for 1 user.

Then you go from there ^^'

Of course you're not gonna have 1 user on 24/7/365 but it's a general guidline. I do have the feeling that I fucked up the maths there =/

In addition to server costs youll also need a license for broadcasting music over the web.

The cost of that runs from around $50-$250 per song depending on the artist and how popular the tune is

So youll probably want to do what all the other internet stations do and use unlicensed music

Lee

yeah i think you fucked up the maths a bit but first of all, i would be stupid to stream 128kbps mp3s.what i wanted to stream is an ogg stream with half the quality and that would be ok i guess.
the other thing is that people won't listen to us 24h/day but thats a lot of traffic anyway.

thats not true.there's no need to pay for the songs if you stream the music and don't give the listerners the ability to interact.
