Preventive Aircraft Measures..FAA..

If the FAA would implent a Saftey measure that would allow the pilot of the aircraft to push a panic button that would send the aircraft to a desinated landing site this may never have happened as we live in a computerized world and the hi-tech world we live in should have such safety measures intact, this is how it would work.

A. when the aircraft is under hi-jacking the pilot would press the panic switch therfore sending the auto pilot into a LOCK mode that would land the aircraft at the nearest airport rather then letting a terrest in command of the controls.

Would be great to hear some feedback on this idea as the FAA is partly to blame for such poor security measures and i for sure as hell would not fly on any aircraft any time soon till such measures are taken.

not sure how auto-pilot works, but perhaps opening it up to remote control would be more flexible? so some military pilot could fly it from his VR machine.

I'm sure they could install Sub7 in there somewhere .

Good idea though, would have to be totally non-reversable, as the next step would be sending up computer and electronic scientists to hack it open.

Yes it would have to be a one way ticket to the airport and i am sure with all that god dam money the FAA has they should have done somthing like this long ago as i know 7-11's that have more security as far as setting off a alarm to the police station.

The FAA really needs to get their shit together as all the dogs in the world cannot stop a Thriving Terrest!

The FAA seems to worry more about aircraft defects rather then Terrist Prevention, now it is time for them to wake up as the skys are not safe!!!!

I sent these same posts to the FAA as they need to do something to prevent further actions, as I have a avation background in AP mechanics and avionics and think the FAA is a bit relaxed in terrest prevention.

Things need to be changed so we feel safe in flying on the airlines.

I want to mention in a normal hi-jacking situation, the point of the hi-jackers is they want something or to arrive to a certain destination. If they would have a panic button, the hi-jackers would automatically be fucked and would either start killing everyone on the plane. Hey sure, if you don't mind all passengers dying, then cheers to your idea.. and if you want to bring up the "they only have knives", the majority of hi-jackers have guns or a bomb type of thing.

Final note to add: have you ever seen how poor a cockpit door is? all you need is a screwdriver to pop on of these opened.. less security then your own home.

The Boston logan airport has really bad security from what I have been told first hand as I know people that have worked their, they pay their bag checkers near min wage if that helps you figure how safe you are as I know this first hand from an x-employee...

Bottom line? ask your self do i trust the airlines? I dont not till they employ anti-terrest measures.

I think worrying about aircraft safety in the current situation is missing the Mark entirely of the problem and tragic situation at hand...

I don't care how much security you have, someone hell bent on killing themselves for a cause will always be a major threat and have the ability to kill many others in the process!

Maybe we can get them to ask a few more stupid questions when getting on a airplane...

Well the FAA is at fault in my opinion. i just heard on the news that the cockpit of any plane is a secure as a baby crib.

Now I would think that the FAA would make a seperate cabin in the future that would be very secure to the pilots and navagators from anyone to getting access, further more if i was the one to make this happen it would be comparable to your local bank vault as far as accesssing the cockpit area as it is so easly accessable now, a 5 year old could jimmy the cockpit door open and that is the weakest link in aviation access.!!!

Any american should express their thoughts to :http://www.faa.gov/avr/afshome.htm

Again your missing the point, though it would have took more work and planning, but if the 20 terrorists that were willing to die on those planes had gotten trucks full of explosives, like Tim McVay(sp?) used in OK., they could have likely created as much carnage as the 4 planes did...The safety of planes have NOTHING to do with the enemy we are at war with...

The Gov't knows this, but they also know that it's important to make people "feel" safe, so they talk about airport security, but look around the world, planes are hijacked in countries, where their security does everything short of a rectal probe before getting on a plane, but that doesn't stop it from happening...

What pisses me off is that the only security Measures that they are doing is not checking any on side curb bags and double screening passengers- now that to me would not be any convincing means to even consider travling on any aircraft.

Basicaly the same terrests could still gain access to any terminal any-place in the US~

The FAA needs to really figure out a better solution to these phony ideas they have now as all it seems to me is they want to get things rolling so the Airlines can make money$$$$
