How the fuck is this news? Ashcroft (and other admin staff) was never expected to serve a second term - especially with his recent health problems.
These "resignations" are nothing more than formally telling the Pres they don't have the energy/will/desire to work their asses off for another 4 years. Re-election is never a certainty ... Seriously, don't expect anything to change.
