From Manhattan
Hello All,
I've never posted here before but I figure I may as well tonight to talk a little bit about what I experienced today. I figured it would be a nice morning to stop by Century 21 on Church Street roughly 5 blocks away from the World Trade Centers & do some shopping. Upon impact of the 1st craft it seemed as if the world stopped. This huge department store, which was extremely noisy all of a sudden, was silent. Each and every individual was almost at a standstill. What I experienced next I pray I never experience again and the same for everyone else. I would have never imagined this could happen in a place that I call home. I've seen things on TV, but who ever thinks it's going to happen to you? I never have. Very naive..., I know. To watch a Jumbo Jet hit a place that my parents used to take me as a child, that now as an adult (22), I visit for business meetings and dinner dates with friends, girlfriends, etc.. (Windows on the World), is just all to surreal. Battery Park for Lunch, Barnes & Nobles, J & R Music World, covered in soot, gone. The people running, the smoke, the dirt, the noise, papers, pens, briefcases, coats, shoes, knowing that many of my friends and loved ones were just starting there day (which was a beautiful one weather wise) is all over with. To watch these tall monsters which still to this day keep me staring up as I pass by them intrigued by their size, crumble, is truly heart breaking and scary. To watch people actually screaming & jumping from these buildings is truly the worst part & the worst thing I have ever seen, knowing that they knew, they had no other choice. I don't know what else to say. I pray for each and every individual on the Aircrafts, in the buildings, every New Yorker that experienced this awful day with me, all of you, and of course my friends & loved ones. And even though I'm sure I wont hear any good news about the people I knew in the WTC, I could only pray that I do. With a tragedy as such, I don't see how anyone could have survived being in the buildings but I can only pray. And also, I?ve seen some of you arguing about this tragedy, but that?s all a waste of time. Perhaps experiencing this first hand and having to run from it (not watching it on TV) makes me not understand the point or arguing about it, but hey that?s only my thoughts. To each their own I guess. As dumbfounded as our President is (US) I truly think he?s correct when he say?s a time like this is a time for unity. We truly don?t know what?s going to happen tomorrow & we should all be here for one another. Now I sound like Oprah, so I?ll stop. If anyone actually took the time to read this, thank you. |

Thank you for sharing your experience of today. I watched the TV coverage and was emotionally drained. I can't imagine actually being there - I think I would have nightmares for a long time. Glad you are here to be able to post. ------------------ RSVMoney - get paid per click - no conversion ratios |

As you said, the whole thing is simply surreal. I feel a deep sorrow for every victim of these attacts.
The sight of those falling bildings ... very very sad. ![]() |
