This ever happened to you

Lastnight about 1:30am the garage door suddenly opened. The dog started going nuts, I grabbed the gun and went out but saw nothing. Pretty much scared the shit out of all of us. Now I'm trying to figure out what happened. My guess is someone with a garage door opener is on the same frequency, but we've lived here for oever 2 years and this has never happened before. We've got one of those keypads outside, but have never even used it. Anyone got any idea's?
My biggest concern is maybe someone was driving down the road and trying to find a garagedoor that would open with their opener and now that they've found mine they'll be back. We travel quite a bit and I'm just glad we were home so we could close it, unfortunately the neighbors aren't to fond of us since we're the only non-church goers in the neighborhood so I can't really ask anyone to keep an eye out for me when we leave town again. Does anyone know if there is a way to change the frequency without changing the whole works? Any advise would be appreciated.

Just to be on the safe side I would get it changed. Not sure how expensive it is to get it reprogrammed but it is worth the piece of mind.

Change your code on the keypad and frequency for the opener for sure... Could be a short in the wiring too if you change those and it keeps happening. Good that you had a dog there and hopefully barking. Best to check the rest of the house too in case somebody was wanting in (windows, doors, etc).

just my thoughts

Thanks for the advise folks, I just discovered how to lock the door opener so it won't work even with the remote. That solves my problems for when we're out of town or away from the house. I'm going to wait and see what happens, hopefully it was just a fluke and won't happen again but if it does I'll look into getting it re-programed as it turns out that's a little expensive. I'm also going to change the code just in case
Thanks again for the input!

That happens alot with my autostart for the car, it'll just turn on and run for the 15mins and then shuts off, its annoying cause its a waste of gas.

No but know you have me thinking of turning mine off. I mostly use it for storage anyway.
