    shooting content in HDTV

Now with the Sony HDV camcorder HDTV format is in everyone's reach. What do you think would happen to sales if you advertised content as being available in 1080i online?

Think that's something people would sign up for? I think I'd sign up for a site that advertised it just to see it.

the camera is priced too low, was hoping it would be out of range of alot of people - less than $3500 - BUT i've been looking into it with my shooter Marco and it does mean upgrading computers to work with HD video, RAID storage system cuz the raw video files are huge - 600GB for an hour of footage, and a top of the line fast computer to edit - so it's probably closer to $10,000 to get up and running with it. and there probably will be alot of trial and error learning how to shoot HD video, lighting, makeup etc.

I personally wouldn't join a site that advertised that, because of all the so called "DVD Quality" sites out there. I've seen very few online videos that I would consider "DVD quality". I'd consider it a lie. But for selling DVD's or HD encoded WMVs on DVD it should be a huge plus.

I'm waiting on the HD camera.... Letting everyone else figure it out, and do all that before I jump in. I mean, wasn't just a year inbetween the VX2000 and the Much better VX2100? I'd hate to have that happen with that HD cam.

            I already shoot in HD.
            Mostly Mainstream.

Seriously its tough to shoot in HD, alot of things are different and it can not be treated like typical Video.

what camera do you use? unless you are renting/leasing a VERY expensive HD camera then you aren't shooting in HD.

                Expensive ehehhe....

                Yeah.

                Well...

I have consulted a few companies already on how to get HD going for under 10K and even built systems for editing HD.

Thats the problem with alot of older video guys...

                TO set in there ways.

I didnt post to debate, I posted an opportunity.

It will be several years before high def makes any difference to the average internet porn consumer. If you are distributing via DVD then I can see how it would be a selling point.

The only bad thing about many of these HDV cams landing in the hands of porn producers is that lots of videos are going to be shot in 16:9 and that is not a good aspect ratio for most porn scenes.

                      What about the bandwidth consideration?

Is there a quantum leap in data size for HD?

I bought the Sony HDTV camera a few months ago. It is a great device. I did not get it for internet videos but I saw it as an opp to charge a premium for DVD content.

The DVD market in regular TV is saturated and prices are very low. But sell a HDTV DVD and you can get 30 times the price.

That is what I am doing quite nice with HDTV.

I dont think its worth it. The bandwidth would be catastrophic and downloading would take forever.....the average person wont see a difference unless they are a video geek like myself and own a 23" apple cinema display. stick with dvd encoding...or atleast wait until all broadcasters have moved from SD to HD...couple years still

Why would I join a site that have 1 hour movies with 600Gb?

I could never download that, I know the average surfer couldn't either....

                            I'm just a newbie.

                              Good thinking

Are you able to use standard video editing software to process the HDTV data?
