I doubt very seriously that Jimmy is redirecting his MAIN page on purpose...

Why would he do that? My galleries, there, are working fine now.

I got a shitload of complaints about lightningfree for the past few days. I mailed [email protected] about this several times to no avail. No reaction at all. Now I read this.

I'll lay off accepting ligntningfree.com 'till this is over.

I'm still getting reports at this very moment. All from German visitors. The URL that was stated in the first post of this thread has also been reported to me only 5 minutes ago. Seems they're redirecting foreighn traffic to console traps. Many hosts have been doing the same thing. Not only did I stop accepting 'em for now, I had to delete all lightningfree galleries posted in the last 3 days 'cause of this.

This is old news. It's been known for months that they redirect ± 4% of their traffic.

Raven, only today a lot or reports from surfers started coming in... so something new mst be going on. What was a known problem was that some people got redirected to their 404. They took of the consoles off there and put a message on there on what was going on and that took care of it (mostly), but this is something new

First of all, I doubt that they redirect 4% of the real traffic coming into their servers, otherwise every tgp out there would ban them! Now if you are counting the cheaters that try to fuck the free host at every turn, then maybe you could come up with 4%. I've really had my eyes opened concerning the free hosting biz over the last 30 days in helping out with a freehost that posts here at gfy, you would not believe how many people try to take advantage of these guys and stick it to them in any way they can. I can start to understand why a freehost would need to skim some of that traffic just to stay above board with the monthly bills. I keep seeing all these freehosts come and go, and to be honest with you the few that are represent here at gfy seem to be doing the best that they can to make a living, just like all of you are. If you don't like the fact that they may be redirecting foreign speaking traffic, then don't use them.

One note to freehost's, I would suggest that you add something to your policies that states that you have to right to redirect any traffic that you deem unprofitable/unusable. If you do redirect anything extra above and beyond the normal 404's that are found because a file was deleted for being too big or the wrong format then let the user know that at the beginning. I doubt that many people here would be all that upset with the fact that a small % of the traffic was being redirected if they knew it up front, and if your headers/footers were small enough that they could make a buck themselves.

Anyone that uses a freehost should understand that they are not taking on the risk of a huge traffic bill at the end of the month by using that type of host, and should expect to give up a fair share of the clicks that are generated from a gallery.

Sorry for the rant I will get off my soapbox Have a good one!

Do a little research on them and you will see. You can start by reading this Thread, http://bbs.adultwebmasterinfo.com/ub...ML/007707.html or you can refresh your lightningfree's gallery 500 time and count the number of time it's being redirected.
