Someone help me with Windows 2K

Ok, I did a clean install from windows ME to win2k....... somehow or another it shows on my c drive when I go there that I didn't lose any of my programs, but when I click on them they give me errors like they can't find them............. I have to reinstall each and every damn program from scratch to access them and then THAT is when I lose all my settings in each program......... has anyone else had this happen or does Win2k just not fucking like me?

It's really hitting every nerve I have to see them there and can't open them.

Any help would be major and very helpful to a pc that is about to be tossed out the damn window. lol

Boot with a Win98 Boot disk. Go to Dos type in fdisk. You should be able to handle it from there.

Will that fix it or format it? I'd like to save as much as is possible on it, if I can that is. Just tell me what that is going to do.

Fdisk will totally nuke your system. From there you will have to format and do a clean intall of Win2k. I recommend the NFTS vs FAT32 system, and yes..... reinstall everything.

Just take the effort and do a clean install of W2K and reinstall all your software, you won't regret it.

tam, when going from the devilish ME to 2k, it's really a good idea to wipe it all clean... ME tends to leave undesired junk all over the place, and make 2K crash :\...

if you changed from fat32 to NTSF the partition, it "could" be the reason why it did that...

but if you have to reinstall all, just reformat babe, same work, but worth it.

Tam it's better to install Win2K on a formatted hard disk.
The programs you had running with ME won't work or will give alot of errors because of registry problems.

Thanks guys........ and mag and SR, that is exactly what is going on. I despise ME with a passion, and I think it has just taken a life of its own and haunted my pc....... so if you don't see me for like a week, you will know ME has me by the ass and I will come back one way or another. lol
