How do they really think they'd live without us shipping staples in on a regular basis? With the kind of mark-up they're putting on dairy and wheat products, Hawaii should be the richest nation in the Pacific.

Historically ANY type of superiority gives you that right from the individual to the country. If you don't have that, you WON'T get away with it for very long if at all.

I know that what you are saying is true, nature is all about the the survival of the fittest and strongest. But I disagree that it is right of us to "unfairly" enforce our strength unless we agree to dismiss civility and even civilization itself in all other aspects of life. As humans living in society, we have collectively agreed to an code of honour and justice that we know is an artificial concept but that most agree is what we and others need in order to lead a better quality of life.

I believe in separatism, and I loathe alien control which is pretty much what Hawai'ians are living under. Why shouldn't this seperate people, race, culture, be allowed to govern itself completely? Why should Americans decide for them when they have managed for so long without you?

The argument that the alien control is justifiable on account of Hawai'i's vulnerability to other foreign peoples is not a good one. You don't need to control them and decide for them in order to protect them. You can leave them to theirs, and let it be known through behaviour or words that those who trespass on their sovereign right would trespass on your own principles and friendship and thus gain you as an enemy with it. This is the way it works in Europe. A strong country could certainly with ease take over some small European country, but most of Europe and even the world would fight you unless the strong country had a good reason to do as it did.

The thing is, who decides what is fair or not? It is an arbitrary decision made by a judge or a Government often in error and not as clearcut as many think.

Should the guy who robs and kills someone to keep his family alive be viewed in the same light as a drunk driver that kills someone? They often are.

Who determines that it was "worth it" to kill x number of Iraqis to give the country a better life?

These decisions are made by the "strongest" authority of the moment. If not they wouldn't be carried out.

In the case of Hawai'i, I think the decision has already been universally made. Europeans used to have a lot of control over many different peoples, races, and cultures, but has long since agreed that this is not a good thing and ended the practice. America has agreed with most if not all of these decisions. Hawai'i is still under colonism because the Hawai'ians are too weak or too gentle spirits to put up any kind of fight or display to the world that they will fight for their independence to the death if need be. And besides, noone wants to object to America unless they really have to, you are far too mentally unstable to handle criticism without immediately retaliating with adverse politics, embargoes, and war.
