No gold or diamonds please!

Be careful with leather

As a chick, I love guys wearing platinum solid and simple style watches. Go minimalistic. :winkwink:

Sosa 11-05-2004 02:37 PM

I like my Breitling Crosswind

dimonka 11-05-2004 02:38 PM

Most newest Rado models have gay design (imho). Take a look at Omega, Longiness and Rolex. They look really stylish and solid.

P.S. Btw, Seiko would be good choise too, but they're all under $1K.

xclusive 11-05-2004 02:43 PM

Check on ebay until you see one that you like,,,

ytcracker 11-05-2004 03:12 PM

rolex

pornguy 11-05-2004 03:30 PM

Tag is very nice.

But you should try something like the Mickey Rolex.

It says a lot.

videoxpix 11-05-2004 08:58 PM

Cartier....my santos has been on my wrist for almost 25 years. Still in style, keeps great time, and looks sharp, but not too pimped.

I say stainless, no diamonds or gold.

about 4K - Tank Francais

about 2.5K - Santos

You can scuba dive, shower, or participate in any other wet activity with these watches too. Check it out!

not really swiss... its actually spain and the movement is junk, and in some models made in japan :2 cents:

hova 11-06-2004 05:01 AM

if youre' wearing a suit. i suggest black leather or gold.

TurboTrucker 11-07-2004 01:51 PM

Gold watches are ugly and stainless steel is heavy. Go with a titanium watch.

BigWebRev 11-07-2004 01:53 PM

rolex for sure :thumbsup

ahhh get your facts right.

When a watch says SWISS MADE its 100% swiss made with swiss movements.

Some models do use Japanese Myota movements which are very solid performers regarless.

Germany is also producing very nice and respected movements as well.

yes but 'swiss made' sometimes means it was only assembled there... my friends' been in the watch biz over 25 years... when i asked about invicta that's what he told me...

Head 11-07-2004 02:34 PM

I have a Tag now but my next watch will be a suunto.

KRL is right about some of the high end Invicta watches, the most recognizable and hottest of the styles right now is the Lupah and there are many different versions of it and colors as well. The Lupah is very hot right now everywhere and a big big style.

You're right though if you want classy, well made, dependable, and recognizable you can't beat a good Movado no matter what anyone tells you. But there are several brands that have some real elegant classy styles that are in the 10K plus range but honestly that's not worth the money unless you're a watch enthusiast and you don't sound like you are, get a Movado for a start and you might become one.

Doctor Dre 11-07-2004 04:36 PM

Nothing better for recognition then a fucking rolex ... there are very good looking plain ones

RobD 11-07-2004 06:09 PM

I like Movado and TAG :2 cents:

My girl is addicted to watching HSN, I stay away from watches that are sold on the Home Shopping Network.

aflex 11-07-2004 09:29 PM

From what you are asking.. I'd go with a Breitling with a leather band. Its is very casual yet prominent. People who know watches will respect that choice of watch.

www.breitling.com

i'm in the jewelry business, and see many people wear watches to try gaining status (especially rolex). When a young guy wears a Breitling, you can tell he likes quality stuff but doesn't chase after a name.

Invicta is a bullshit watch btw. So is Movado.

Don't give me any names that no one except for you, me and some Forbes magazine readers would ever recognize. I'm not putting $3K into a watch only I know is worth that much. Movado, Rolex, Gucci are the brands that people recognize - others are junk.

So, let's get back to the topic.

are you a fucking moron? "others are junk".. Movado is by far the shittiest "luxury" watch on the market. Ask any watchmaker. In fact, some of the new Seiko watches run miles around Movado.

People have responded with some very great watch companies for you to check out. Breitling, Omega, Cartier, IWC, Frank Muller, Tag, etc.

I collect watches and I have two favorites. My all time #1 favorite watch is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date (http://www.abouttime.com/abouttime/rolexmens.invtc.html - top most watch) It's pricey but its a beautiful watch and it goes very nicely with a tuxedo or a suit. For times when I go somewhere where a Rolex might be took as a bit too pretentious I go with my Dark Phoenix Swatch (http://www.legends-inc-watches.com/darkphoenix.html). I have not been able to find this watch anywhere in the US anymore (not even at the 3 Swatch stores here in New York), so I got mine on-line from the site I've pointed you too. The watch is gorgeous and the people who run the site are really nice Australians. I only had good experiences with them. I also received as a gift the new Tag Heuer watch not too long ago. I'm not a huge Tag fan but this one is pretty nice. It's a 1960 Monza re-issue and this watch is rather gorgeous also with a retro look (http://www.watchseller.com/tagheuermonc1.html). Hope this helped...

Los 11-07-2004 11:31 PM

tag or omega is the way to go

Well he's wrong. I deal in them.

KRL 11-07-2004 11:38 PM

Also, most ultra expensive watches are just that ultra expensive, unless you are buying them as serious collectables.

For $1K to $2K you can buy a very nice, just as expensive looking and well made watch.

Its crazy to spend $100K on a watch in my opinon, again unless you are a total collector.

true... if you are buying a really expensive watch, but it for its unique movement, not for the bling on it :2 cents:

This is my everyday watch, as dull and utilitarian as it is, it still gets questions on where do I get one. Its current issue to USAF, USN and special operations.

I'm planning on picking up a Breitling Aerospace after completing a few house goals. :thumbsup
