                                              Come on, how do any of us know what states really had slavery and which didn't. I for one don't believe 80% of what I read in schoolbooks or anywhere else for that matter. How does anyone alive today know what really went on over 100 years ago? They don't. Have you ever played telephone? You go around in a circle of 15 or 20 people and by the time the original message gets back to the first person it has usually changed drastically, and that is only in a few minutes time with a few people. Imagine how much things get skewed over a span of 100 plus years and millions of people.

                                              It's just like saying no two snowflakes are alike, they cannot prove that. They would have to examine every single snowflake that has ever fallen in the history of the world and compare them to all the other snowflakes. Impossible. To me this map holds no merit whatsoever. But I am naive, because I don't believe everything I hear.

And I don't mean in pictures, I mean have you actually seen them in person, done your own carbon dating on them, learned the ancient language in which they were written, and translated them for yourself? If not, then you don't know. Do you speak German? Have you been to Germany and watched Hitler give any orders to anyone? I am not saying that innocent Jewish people didn't die, and I am not saying that Nazism didn't exist, I just don't believe everything I am told. I invite you to try and prove me wrong on any of my polemical statements. And "Everyone says so" or "People have been saying it for years" isn't proof in my book.

Its all about perception. I am not saying the democratic party needs to change is position on social issues but for whatever reason it in not selling in middle america.

If the dems go ahead and put another liberal senator from the northeast again in 2008 the same result will follow.                                                                                                                                                                   Kerry is an admitted flip/flop on the issues liar. He totally turned off the white moral majority and didn't attempt to pull any of that vote. Its his own damn fault he lost the election. A person is open to new ideas against traditional morality but people in a populace are strongly affected by morality.

                                                                                                                                                                  I'm worried not because the people didn't vote out GWB, because he'll be gone in 4 years anyway, but because an idiotic campaign like the Kerry campaign was all they could put together against a candidate as weak and unpopular as GWB. What could they possibly give us for next time?

                                                                                                                                                                                      As others have stated, they didn't have as many due to the lack of agriculture, but you're kidding yourselves if you think there weren't slaves in the north!
